While I really would like a land plane or an actual road grader (that would be nice) I've taken to using my field drag to repair the road and drive. It's the perfect width, fills in the low spots even though that creates a soft spot. I have limited traffic on my road and drive though so it's rare I need to do that, on the neighbors portion I'll do that when ever I do mine. What ever is dragged to the end, I bucket back up to the top to fill washouts. While the road is all on private property we still get a road crew once a year, they tend to help and hurt keeping it in good condition as they get lazy and try to narrow the width which can make the 2 turns tough on the trucks when I need big deliveries or hauling something out.
But if I could find one of those old steel wheel graders for a decent price, I'd buy it! Dual purpose, grade the road once a year and useable yard art :)
I have a little DR grader that works just fine but at 4' a swipe it's really only good for trails and tight areas. Reading above... there are definite benefits to being at the end of the road it seems!

I use a box blade with rippers to loosen shoulders then tilt it 15 degrees and roll it back to make it cut. This rolls the material off of the shoulder so I can pull it to the center with a road drag. The secret is a good crown. I have no spots where water stands and as a result my half mile drive is one of the best roads in the county.

Here is one near us FS on FB, they call it a 6ft Pony grader. Googling it, I can not find one like it...

Looks like it's hydraulically adjustable with its own electric pump, like a dump trailer, probably with a remote adjustment to be pulled by a truck?

Yes to all that. Was wondering about the make?

It looks like it has a 12V (snowplow) hydraulic pump with a single acting cylinder that pushes that trailing axle up or down to adjust depth of cut. Angle adjusts like a rear blade. I can't see how they adjust tilt. They list the price at $1,500

FB verbiage with my improved photos. Looks like the frame or tung is bent and it just being 6ft wide makes it minimal width.

Many years ago I had one that I converted to pull with a tractor. Handy enough for light duty grading tasks but with the blade angled it would pull to the side hard anytime it started to fill up with gravel or dirt. I maintain my road nowadays with a skid steer and land plane/grader. It does not crown the road, but since none of my roads are on the level, water runs off anyway.

I have been curious about the grader style skid steer attachments but I expect it would suffer the same problem of pulling to the side. I know even my small dozers with the blade angled had a hard time avoiding drift.

Ya, I agree. Small machine with side loads. I see in the photos crude weights had been added. This machine is located 2.5 hours from us.

I have a mile long gravel driveway. I would LOVE to get one of those pull graders. My HD Rhino rear blade tries to be a grader. It DEFINITELY is NOT. I use my heavy LPGS to keep things smooth. But all I can do with the LPGS is smooth the "whoops" and the "doos".

When I had my driveway constructed in '82 - folks would brag about how fast they could go and all the dust they could create on my driveway.

Then is when I decided to leave the woopde - doos and slow them down.

The surface of my driveway is a mix of - gravel, sand, silt and volcanic ash. In the summer its as hard as thirty year old concrete. Right down the section line - straight as an arrow.

Funny that this machine FS near me is the same width as the snow blade on our Outlander. :ROFLMAO:
