Great weather...45 heading to sunny 74.

That frog pic is great. Almost looks like a rubber one.

Took Della back in the woods to clean up sticks/branches from the Helene remnants. Hadn't been back in a while due to the mama and 2 spotted fawns hanging around there and the turkeys. Also changed batteries and cards on the cams...had some bear pix and the usual critters. Only one coyote, but it was just a few hours before we were there.

Prayers for the Helene victims. I hope the folks in Florida pay heed.

The entire 469 miles of the Blue Ridge Parkway has been closed since the hurricane. In a few places it washed out/slid down the mountain. Lots of trees down. But I read yesterday that they are close to reopening most of it in Virginia. Hope so...those communities depend on Autumn fall foliage tourists for much of their income.

Good Morning
45° now, should climb to upper 60’s under a clear sky. Another great day to work outside.

Yesterday, I spent the entire day outside, alternating between a shovel and the tractor, moving dirt.

Zoe approves of the new walk.

This morning it’s gets seeded and straw mulched, and that should about wrap up the outside work.

Morning all;
A nice brisk morning to wake up with 42F and only going up to 58F with some showers around. Noticed the smell of wood smoke while driving around yesterday (with my window down).
Per the 10 day forecast we may be getting are first frost next week, it seems early but it is going on towards mid October, the year is a flying bye.

Dang fat fingers this morning wasn't ready to post this yet.

One of my brothers was wanting a new hitch welded on a trailer he is going to make a deer blind on, it drove home a few points to me.
How hard could it be to run a couple of short weld beads over head, answer screw this. I take the tractor and loader over today or tomorrow and flip the danged thing over. Between the knees, back and neck creaking and popping that is the way it will get done.

All stay safe

I to spent the whole day on the tractor gathering local resources (mostly river rock) to repair 1/2 the bridge Helene was so kind to remove for me. Rock is hard on the tractor but I can save thousands on raw resources so I will continue while my bridge builder Finds another steel tube.
48 degrees and supoosed to only get to low 70s but a gorgeous couple of days coming.

Lou, are you going to venture a guess as to identifying that old tractor Mostly and I found sunk into the ground? Ag or maybe industrial? Has old IH look grill

decided to take beltway around Fort Worth if I see exit marked 820 West. Looks like 820 East is bad news, all red. So I will swing West around Fort Worth instead of driving through downtown in weekday rush hour. It adds twenty minutes but I'd rather keep moving than inch along in traffic with some enlightened fellow behind me with his grill in my bicycle.

maybe I'll see someone riding a horse to work. I haven't seen anyone on a horse yet...not that I want to get on one but wonderful animals. Native Americans would not have flourished without them. Or does everyone, and apparently everyone, drive a high powered UTV now? I've seen empty stockyards but no cows. Lots of cows out in fields. Is there a hitching post in Giddings? Will anyone ride to town?

have a good supply of dog biscuits onboard. Need to work on giving them away

and what do you know...I spy on the map the city of Kyle below Austin.
That's two of our illustrious crew that have done such great deeds a city has been named after them. Kyle is one of Texas' fastest growing cities.
