ICE's definitely take the win, on disaster avoidance and recovery.

Any vehicle that sits in salt water 2 ft deep is totaled, EV or ICE.
We will have to agree to disagree on ICE in salt water......sure it won't be as good , and depending on rust proofing done on it, it will be fine for many years. This from the many folks up here in the rust belt where salt is used on our roads for 5 mths straight every winter. My 2014 truck looks like Crap but it still runs great and if I wanted I could redo it all to look great. ( 2 ft of water would not drown most parked ICE . Interiors would need carpets and seats removed and dried.....been there done that with a older Jeep in lake. .

It's not the salt, it's the water. Sink a car in 2 ft of water, fresh or salt, and the insurance company is almost always going to total it. This has been my personal experience, anyway. Living along the Delaware River most of my life, we and neighbors have lost many ICE cars to these exact conditions, in fresh water.

yes, those cars get auctioned to someone willing to do the work to repair them. But to the original owner, that is irrelevant, the car is totaled, gone.

For those with full coverage insurance.
Granted. Yes. I have full coverage on all our vehicles, as do most owning newer cars in flood-prone areas.

No way do I have the time to deal with a flood car, as my personal vehicle. If I had a teen driver like Dftodd, then I might consider keeping it for them, if it could be made whole again.

But I think you guys vastly under-appreciate just what a mess any car can be, after submersion in any water. It's not really a valid "EV vs ICE" argument, they're all going to be an expensive mess, in most cases. There are a lot of electronics in ICE's today, and engines and transmissions don't take well to submersion. Interior and HVAC is usually a total gut and redo, as well, as fresh water usually comes with mud.

How did the Cybercab go over?
I downloaded the latest FSD version today and was impressed and think by 2030 it may be be ready for prime time.

For the past year it has been meeting my requirements. Last month it did fine on my 7 day 2500 mile cross country road trip .

I meant the press release… I see TSLA is down 9% today, so I’m guessing some disappointment

I watched the live feed but was not overwhelmed. Cybercab looked like a Tesla with gull wing doors, no steering wheel or pedals, just a screen in the middle of the dash. Also showed a 20-passenger van prototype. They had 50 cabs running a circuit around the streets of the 20-30 acre village built for the rollout so attendees could ride in one.

Seemed like a typical speech from Musk about what he wants to do. He said the cost for Cybercab should be under $30,000 with production set for 2026. Sounds like another Cybertruck scenario developing. He did promise unsupervised FSD by 2027 at the latest, pending regulatory approval. They also showed the Optimus robots dancing and supposedly serving drinks, although all I saw was the robot waving at the crowd.

Evidently, I was not the only person underwhelmed.

Tesla's new Cybercab and futuristic 20-seat Robovan show it's lost its grip on reality

I love Musk... But admittedly Tesla does a lot of hype. This was the LONG awaited big reveal. Someday we will have these things. Rinse, repeat.

Yep, remember Star trek Next Gen and the touch screens , all fact today and actually Beyond, Now common on spacecraft, phones, machinery and vehicles.

Watched a recap of the event, Tesla disappointing again in their pursuit of Zero sidewall tires. They are making it harder to achieve a smooth ride doing this. The Gull wing doors may give lots of space to get into the taxi but look to require more side clearance from another vehicle as well.

I did like the robots pouring drinks,
