Good Morning
42° and sunny, high of 70 under continued sun today.

Yesterday found me at the notary getting document notarized for the township, then several other errands and back to knocking details off the list.
I got the thermostats for the radiant heat installed and tested the boiler and circulators.
Cobbled together a crude but effective sprinkler out of stuff I had in the shop.

I’m keeping everything that was seeded and straw mulched watered, as I have a tight window to get grass to come up before the season ends.

Painting is progressing well, the end is in sight.

Airport authority meeting last night, no rehearsal tonight, gig tomorrow.

Today I want to get some downspout and fittings to connect to the drain pipe I put under the new walk. Also want to put a standard sink drain in the plasma cutter water pan rather than the easily clogged 1/4” NPT outlet that is there now.

No mowing to do, but I should grease the progressive mower and tractor. I did give the tractor a bath after the grading was complete. Plenty to keep me busy, but no deadlines, I’ll just move through the day at a leisurely pace.

45 degrees this morning going to 70+.
Broke down and turned on the furnace. House was down to 60 inside and getting that damp feeling.
No where near my goal of Nov 1.
I would have hung in but except for todays warm blip next week is going to be in daytime 50s and threat of frost nighttime.
The monthly prediction at the start of the month was calling for many more 70s days.
Oh well. The gas people have to make a living.
Taking the new Mazda CX-70 in for the first service today.
I really wracked up those first 5000 fast.
Not even a month, way above my usual average of maybe 2000.
That 3.3 straight 6 is so smooth and it handles like a dream.
Still debating brekky.
Brain says oatmeal with mixed berries and touch of honey.
Belly says bring on the pork products and eggs with a toasted bagel.
Blood tests say cholesterol is good so belly probably wins.
Time to make tea.
Good day ladies and gents.

Good Morning to All who Celebrate! A brisk 45 going to 70, light frost this morning. Truck needed a few minutes to clear that up.

The best-laid plans of mice and men...Major outage at work this week. A driver not nearly as skilled as L4N took out an entire power pole pulling out of a warehouse next door. That wouldn't have been so bad, except when the line bounced, it arced into our fiber line and created a very pretty puddle of glass, and caught the pole on fire.

Two days, hours of hold music and angering several engineers later, we're back up and running. I got the feeling it only became a problem for them once it started costing THEM money, when we were losing dollars, they didn't care. sigh.

Couldn't get the logging crew out, but plan on pulling the log splitter out anyway after work this evening. Have a few rounds to get it warmed up and then under it's new cover. Just some mowing and if I feel motivated, I'll chase some of these early leaves that are dropping.

Have a good weekend Y'all! Enjoy the day!

Good morning! A cool 57˚F, S wind, clear skies, heading to 93˚.
So long Drew, Have fun at Kyles, you should have a short drive today. You will notice a considerable difference in the fertility of the soil on the SE side of 35. There will be more fields of crops and less scrub brush.

I like the likes. It is a way to acknowledge interesting/unusual post or simply post you totally agree with.. I can't help that the morning thread has the most interesting and informative post.

ok, I've done my civic duty and that will be all.

sun is finally coming up, things to do.

am sadly lacking in tractor pics.
when the farms are so gigantic as they are here, the machinery isn't stored near the road. I think it has been so dry everywhere would normally be a lot greener here.

driving through the West and seeing more water storage units than I thought possible the value and control of water rights is a big deal here. Looking at the small stream called the Rio Grande, well, it wasn't so grande anymore.

water is sure a big deal when you don't have enough to go around.

I have more pictures but will not clutter up the place. The Parway was supposed to open in Virginia this morning but gates were open last night on Bent Mountain. More people there than I thought there would be very chilly too.

41 presently warm up over weekend then 30s for lows 59s for highs. Saw first wooly worm yesterday he said cold start to winter then mild cold to end maybe he is confused. I did not have time to ask him asphalt came.

Prayers for all our Country Florida and Appalachia

Morning all, 41 going to 71 and sunny, dry
Did some watering, and some more watering, then went out later to see northern lights, just a glow in the sky, so not too much to see.
Got some more tomatoes in, probably last ones that will ripen.

Paul/Popgadget - Happy anniversary to your son! Reminded me, need to grease up the little tractor, it's been a while.

FWT - Well if someones going to take out a pole, seems to have been a very thorough job!.

Local hunters cleaned out our deer family, looks like one doe and older fawn only ones left.
News about poaching. We need them cleaned out a bit, but seems someone went crazy on taking bucks...

Be well,
We also drove up the road since our house is completely surrounded by tall trees. Even at the open field it just looked like bands of color.

I like the GM thread as it is too. No concerns about post likes.
That hot tub experience will be tough to beat for Drew's amazing America road trip. I'm not sure what or where I would like to show Drew around. Any suggestions? I was thinking bucolic Serbin maybe? But that is after 2ish o'clock. See what Drew wants to do. We are planning supper/dinner tomorrow night.
Y'all's house and backyard looks like royalty.

Drew, drive safe. Your turnoff off of HWY 290 is at the big Texaco gas station sign. RV park behind it. The steakhouse doesn't accept reservations. Should be able to get in within a reasonable time. There is a high school football game tonight. Our team has not had much success this year, so the stands are not full at all. I don't even know if I will go or not. It starts at 7:30pm.
Hopefully I can turn the valve.

Rip, sorry about your kitty.

This was a fellow traveller on my morning commute yesterday... He almost got hit by an oncoming 18 wheeler (whom I'd been flashing my high beams at, at least 10 times to warn him to slow down). He slammed on the brakes hard at the last moment, narrowly avoiding splatting this donkey. I was worried that the splatting would throw him back onto my car from the angle he would have been hit at. I called the sheriffs and they said a deputy was on the way.
Question, I have seen up to 3 of these a few miles back on the county road that leads to this road. Hitting a donkey at speed could kill someone. Should they be "dispatched"? From what the sheriff's operator said, "No one claims them." A serious accident waiting to happen, for no reason. Don't get me wrong. I love animals. But a horrible death for the animal and possibly a person is not a good thing either.

Went to Massey dealer to pickup a part for a friend. They are selling Fendt now. Don't know much about them. Pretty big one here, wondering if they are similar to the Massey behind it? Does Fendt only make Fendt tractors? Or do they have other mfg's make them?

Prayers for Florida. They've had a tough month. The same high pressure system that is giving us nice weather is what caused Milton to go their way.
