The guy who hunts hogs on my land, and my neighbors land, has an off road EZGo golf cart. He has green LED lights on it so it's not so visible at night, and he drives around the land for hours at a time when looking for hogs if they are not coming to the feeders. I think he has five or six feeders on both our places combined. His reason for going electric is how quiet it is. Over the last couple of years, he's shot enough hogs from driving around in it that I agree, he's right. All his hunting is done at night with a thermal scope.

I know this is a old thread, but, curious as to how the EZGo has held up as far as needing electronic parts?

Lithium has been a game changer for electric carts. Seriously reducing weight (load), Increased voltage, and less voltage sag under load, plus longer run time.
We have used electric carts with big tires for 15 yrs on our ranch. Aunt has used them for 50 yrs on her ranch, got us started on em. I guess it just depends upon what you need a cart for...

I've had a Polaris Ranger EV for about 5 years now, as a utility vehicle on my approximately 7 acres. It is fantastic for short, quick trips around the property and the occasional neighborhood jaunt including dirt and gravel roads. Also great for pulling a 44"rough cut tissue mower at slow speeds for hours at a time.
Once the original lead acid batteries wore out,I replaced them with drop-in lithium iron phosphate batteries. I made sure to get enough current draw capacity (650 amp peak) to avoid having the batteries go into protective shutdown.
500 pounds lighter, no watering needed, and should last a lot longer for not that much more cost than another set of lead acid batteries.
Plus, they are charged by the solar panels in sunnny weather, reducing cost of ownership. No filters, belts or engine maintenance needed, it's quiet and no stink. Crawls slowly when needed, without cooking a clutch. Just turn on and go!

I have read about complicated conversations from lead acid to lithium, in my case it was really simple rewiring and mounting, plus installing "coulomb counter" type meter for an accurate "fuel guage".

It takes a bit of homework to find the right batteries and an affordable guage. I used two BigBattery.com Eagle 48v batteries in parallel. They have since changed them somewhat so I don't know if they are still the best choice.
