Glow plugs

Hi all,
I’ve owned a 2005 Kioti CK25 HST for ten years 1,300 hrs, when I go to start cold the glow plug light takes about 9 seconds to turn off then I start it the light comes back on then turns off after another 9 seconds, but lately when cold instead of 9 seconds after start the light goes off after 2 or 3 seconds and the morning’s have been colder. That kind of raised a red flag for me other than that everything works the same! Any thoughts?

Learn what you can about your glow plug timer. It is possible one or more glow plugs is shorted causing the timer to short cycle. Some glow plugs burn out open, others short.

So if I get your response right if one glow plug is not working, the timer would still stay on for 9 seconds when first starting?

Does it hurt anything to use it like that until a find the problem?

My 2011 Kioti CK27 has never had the dash light come back on after starting.

No expert here, but it sounds like your timer is (and perhaps always has been) bad.

Do you have the workshop manual (available online)?

I found the problem. I was messing with the ignition switch and when I would start it and move the key slightly to the right the light would come on as before, so I gave it a shot of WD 40 and everything worked as before!
