Age and injury made 5gallon cans harder to deal with. Decided on Vevor 116gallon tank and pump. $733. Quickly shipped.

Plastic tank has fork pockets. Tractors are poor fork lifts so needed to mount on pallet. $24 metal pallet from scrapyard much more durable, allows 4-way entry and takes bumps and rubs better. Made guides/post to lock into the tank’s recess hand grooves.

Added tubing for an extra nozzle dock and fire extinguisher mount.

Added a converter to use Dewalt 20v battery option under the lid.

Need to check and tighten all fittings, filter, and mounting hardware.

Glued gasket to fill cap.

Added two-way swivel fitting between nozzle and hose.

Loaded and took to station to fill. Bought taxed diesel at $2.75/gal. 107 gallons filled to about 2” from top. Didn’t spill a drop transporting home.

Unloaded and set on 2x4’ flat cart for easy moving in tractor shed.

Using a Dewalt 5ah battery. The pump easily primed. Filled both tractors. Didn’t spill a drop. So easy! Automatic nozzle shut off. Did a five minute recirculating test back to tank. Pump and converter barely got warm. Pump is 10-11 gallon per minute and 30 minute duty cycle. Battery pack stiil had two of three bar charge left. Two wire connector still allows connection to battery clips cable if needed. Pump is rated at 140watts and converter rated at 180watts. Access to tractor batteries is more difficult. Converter and battery receptacle $20 from amazon.

Pump has screen inlet and 30micron with water blocking absorbing media discharge filter. Pump flow slows indicating need to change canister filter. Vevor doesn’t stock replacement parts. Haven’t yet sourced a replacement filter.

Looks good! I moved to a pallet mounted 108g tank several years ago, and it's been very convenient. I run a 17u water blocking bowl + element followed by a 2u final filter. I personally wouldn't like a 30u filter regardless of what's on the equipment. Should be easy enough to match up a replacement.

The design has the polishing filter horizontal which is ok for water absorption type filter. The filter has conical instead of flat gasket seal. Found a potential replacement, water block and 10micron.

Beware this is imported so the threaded connections are straight British pipe with O-ring seal.

They do make similar, smaller fuel tank for either diesel or gasoline.

Have only attempted two tractor fill ups. Both pulled a vacuum on the tank. ??? Two similar vents and I see a spring on underside. Thinking they were pressure/vacuum vents… maybe they are? Have to take one apart and see. One on the tank and one on the filler cap. Do have an extra brass Fillrite vacuum/pressure vent. Think it cracks and at 5psi either way. Particularly important in this part of the country to help with evaporation and moisture from humidity.

Nice looking setup. I also got tired of lifting 5-gallon cans. I have a 58-gallon John Dow which is similar on a trailer, powered by a deep cycle battery with solar charger. It doesn't have an inline filter so that is my winter project. I have the parts, just need to mount them.

A filter is a must on a storage tank! Heat and cool cycles can create condensation that would need to be filtered out.
Overall, nice-looking tank setups! I've got mine installed in the back of the truck. Can fill truck or tractors as needed! Buy fuel when I find good price.
Road fuel, by the way. Don't use enough to justify off-road fuel. Plus this way, no lifting of cans!

can you elaborate on the fuel pump / dewalt battery conversion, or maybe provide a link?

Storage tank size is predicated on your needs like anything else, but whatever size you require I'd be installing a Racor Style fuel polishing filter no matter what and I'd be adding a biocide as well. I have my fuel delivered and it's always off road, but then I have a 500 gallon tank as well. My diesel standby is plumbed into the tank but I only fill it maybe once a year, depending on how much hay I run and how often the power goes out. Lately, the power has been going out quite a bit I might add. Weather was fickle this year so only 2 cuts not the usual 3 so I guess my fuel usage is about average this year. I just hope the winter is mild and our heating costs stay reasonable. Fingers and toes crossed.

One thing I always do is when I have diesel delivered, I treat it with an EPA certified bio-cide. I've had the unfortunate experience of algae in diesel fuel and it's an expensive to fix deal. I don't take any chances now. I use Power Service bio-cide. It's not cheap but an ounce of prevention is much less than what it costs to repair an engine and fuel system that has been compromised by algae.

I have 2 55g drums for diesel with a pump.

Last purchased Sep 13, 2017

I have home heating oil, so when the guy comes to fill the house, he also fills the drums. It's worked out very well. Pump is powered by dumb battery charger from the 80's on 10a setting.

Smokeydog that is a very nice setup you built !

I don’t go through a lot of diesel fuel so will most likely continue using my mostly 5 gallon No Spill cans, I like to keep track of how much fuel per hour my tractor uses and the 5 gallon cans make that pretty easy. My cans are all red but so far around here no stations are enforcing the yellow cans for diesel rules. I do buy off road diesel because it’s quite a bit lower priced.

I've been using plastic jugs until now as my GC2610 is the only diesel I have. I'm taking delivery of my new F350 diesel in two weeks and have thought about adding something to the fuel system that would allow me to pump into my tractor from the truck, possibly using the OEM lift pump. Anybody done something like this?

That Vevor setup looks nice.

I use a 55 gallon drum and a rotary hand pump I put together for diesel a couple of years ago. It's not this clean any longer...🤷‍♂️

I want to do something similar for ethanol free gas for the mowers/splitter/generator/etc but I just don't want to spend the $ on what they want now for the pumps... 5 gallon containers for gas still....

I don't have anything fancy. This is a 50-55 gallon square tank I bought many years ago coupled with my hand pump that is a Tolkeim old as the hills. The tank is both bolted to the home made heavy pallet, 4x6 and 2x10 and also strapped with a rachet strap.

This has been a great unit for me. Easy to lift with mySSQA forks. I keep it in my wood shed and when I need to refill I put it the back of my pickup and SECURE it well. I think I posted this photo a decade ago. If I need the added fuel off our place it rides safe and well in the truck and is right on target to refuel.

I should also say for years before I bought this tank I used a 50 drum on or off a pallet and found this to be much safer and better to handle.

Like the fuel filter. Is it the water absorbing kind plus particulate filtration.

So impressed with Vevor tank and pump, ordered a second one, smaller 48 gallon and can handle both gasoline or diesel. Bulk tank and pump that can handle gasoline is rare. Not sure of why or how other than they it cost a little more. Gasoline is more volatile so extra precautions to ground for static must be followed. Moving, pumping fluids can cause static.
Non ethanol unleaded gasoline costs about $1 more per gallon. Better for the small engines, generators and long storage. Pir-G stabilizer the best stuff to keep gas fresh.

I am bothered by hauling it in the back of your truck. I use an open dual axle trailer so I can tie it down sloshing fuel has a lot of power. Also diesel vapor especially in warmer months is highly explosive in enclosed areas. Just a thought. Diesel fuel not real dangerous but diesel vapor very dangerous. Need to treat it
Like gasoline for safety
