Hi there.
Just joined your forum and this is my first post so hopefully I have posted correctly

I am interested in purchasing a subcompact tractor w/ backhoe. I started by visiting dealerships w/ the intention of purchasing a new unit to take advantage of 0% financing and a warranty. The 25hp kubotas, JD’s, and MF’s were all in the $25k-$30k range.

The MF dealer has a used 2018 gc 1720 w/ 98hrs that appears to very well maintained. It appears to have been garage kept bc there is minimal uv damage or rust and eng compartment looks great. It actually looked better than some of the newer units that have been sitting outside at the kubota and mahindra dealerships.
I can get this 2018 gc1720 for $14700 otd. Dealers agreed to throw in a full service to change all fluids which they said was valued at $500.

Do y’all think think this is a good deal? I just don’t know if I should spend the extra money to go new and get the warranty or roll the dice on the used one. Are there any things I should check or be concerned about since it is almost 7 years old? This would be my first tractor so I could use some advice. Thanks
Those little MF GC Subcompact tractors are as good and arguably better than the Kubota or JD. I for one have owned a GC series and loved it.

If that price includes a backhoe that's a great price. It's not a bad price for just tractor and loader either. If that is just for tractor and loader, offer them 13,500. If that price includes the backhoe go get it. Years matter much less than hours on a tractor. That's barely broken in.

Thank you for your input. It includes the backhoe. What do you think by seeing the pics? Looks well maintained to me. Any thoughts for a rookie? I appreciate your advice. Thank you

I’ve bought several new tractors and never needed any warranty work and similar for my friends…

The smaller units don’t have the more complicated emissions and generally simpler all the way around.

Small can still do a lot of work but at a slower rate…

Sometimes bigger is too big so it depends on your needs.

I think you better go buy it before it is gone. That's a very nice package for that money.

The Massey GC is probably one of the best, arguably THE best, SCUT you can buy.

I don't think I've ever seen anyone talk bad about a Massey GC series Sub compact.

They are made by Iseki, Japanese company with similar quality as Kubota or Yanmar.

Coming to work this morning I thought I was not seeing right.

Regular $3.85 gallon in SF Bay Area.

Last week I posted over $5 gallon.
The new CA regulations on refineries were approved.

Leading up to that, it was forecast to increase gas prices by .47c per gallon. That caused an uproar. So the document with the forecast was "withdrawn." When the public then kept asking what the impact would be on gas prices, they instead were told: "no comment."

Shortly after it passed Phillips 66 announced it would close its CA based refinery, lowering the number of refineries in CA from 9 to 8. I don't think the government officials anticipated that but it will add to the gas price pressures.

Oh, btw, the new legislation was sold to the public to "eliminate spikes in the price of gas."

Yes. Jump on that.
New ones are outrageously priced imo and l sell them new!
If you’re gonna spend 30k on a sub compact new one, jump 3k for a midsize tbl.

I remember when the plan was to increase capacity with a state of the art new refinery but regulators were shocked when the oil company pulled out...

With Chevrons move to Texas it's just another added to the list.

Pushing prices right to the ceiling of what the market can bear is quite legitimately, a way to "eliminate spikes in the price of gas." :p No more spikes, it's aways high now!

Hey there, I want to thank y’all for the advice. I pulled the trigger and went ahead and purchased the 2018 gc 1720 tlb. Quick question… as the dealer was putting the tractor on the trailer I noticed the left front tire was kinda kicked out and not on the same angle of the right front. When I brought it to their attention they expressed it was normal and not a concern. Could y’all please look at pics of the right front vs the left front and let me know if this something I should be concerned about. Any advice would be greatly appreciated thank you.

Hard to tell from the photos, but it wouldn't take more than 5 minutes to find a level section of garage or driveway, and set a level up-side of each front tire, to see what's real and what's optical illusion.

I believe both fronts on my Deere have a hair of positive camber, like any trailer axle, probably intended to flatten out under heavier load. Then again, it could just be an illusion on my part, I've never bothered to measure as both sides appear equal.
