I absolutely hate touch screens, of any size.

Thankfully many functions are available with separate switches, but it's as if Dodge (and at least one Jeep) wanted the last word.

I like to have the performance pages up on the screen, namely the gauges. Well, for reasons I can't comprehend, after '18 the tuning knob on the radio becomes inoperative when there's useful info on the screen.

With my short attention span (combined with dislike of some music) the stations can end up getting changed a lot. Just not by turning a knob, found by tactile feel, which would allow me to stay focused on the road.

There's a reason I ordered the 3500 with the next to lowest grade radio. It saved me from getting a touch screen - but cost me the availability of a heated steering wheel. A small price to pay, it doesn't go below -10 all that often here.

I honestly think RAM is one of the few doing a pretty good job with the touch screen / button balance. At least my 2015 is that way, I guess I haven't checked out their latest. Basically every function I use while driving is replicated as a button or a knob, such that I never need to access the touch screen while driving, except to switch audio sources (i.e. switch from radio to Bluetooth). Heated wheel, heated seats, changing stations, climate... all that is available as buttons or knobs.

But on my '21 1500 the tuning knob does work as intended, and only (?) the heated steering wheel requires fiddling with the screen.

Which is easy enough while still on the driveway, but when it's time to turn it off...

That's been my gripe about touch screen phones. And not just cold; sweat will really mess them up. I once spent more time on hold than I'll admit... Just as somebody finally picked up and I put my phone to my ear a drop of sweat dropped onto the screen, hanging up on them.
What if it had been an emergency and that was a drop of blood?

You just reminded me of a place I worked about 23 years ago, which had a combination of key card + fingerprint scanner + retina scanner, to access the building. It was located on a windy bluff near Allentown PA, and I was working there two pretty cold winters (by our standards). All of the women had trouble accessing the building in cold weather, as the finger print scanner would basically decide they were dead. So, on that 8F morning, when the wind is howling 20-40 mph, you'd see a line of ladies stuck outside the door, shivering in their stylish business attire.

It's happened to me countless times. Not the blood, but the sweat. Even worse, I've been locked out of my phone due to it being activated while in a pocket against my sweaty thigh, and too many failed unlock attempts. I've learned to just disable the "tap to wake" feature, which could also save you from your scenario, if you lock the phone while on a call.

Early in my career I worked in a secure facility that had retina scan devices as part of a man-trap that would weigh you and lock you out if you were like 5# over your documented weight...(to keep someone from bringing in explosives is what they claimed).

It would really mess with the pregnant women.

Even worse, they designed it with a display outside of the man-trap that showed your weight for all the world to see.

All the women hated it!

I suspect a similar device today would look more at daily weight change, than just a fixed number, as people’s weight does often change throughout the long term.

My latest pet peeve is car dealers that list online and don't seem to know what the vehicle is priced at. I called to make sure the vehicle was still available, drove 70 miles to the dealer, took it for a test drive, and when they quoted me the price, it was $4K higher than the listed price. I even showed the manager the printout from their listing, made two hours previously, but he wouldn't budge on price. I walked out, got in my car and was backing out when another guy came out wanting to know how they could still make the sale. I told him that at that point, I couldn't trust dealing with them, and left.

Ten years ago my wife and I went to a local dealer to buy two new cars with cash. We were within $150 for both and sales manager wouldn't budge. We drove to another dealer 90 miles away and we got two identical better cars for less money. The salesman said he would have paid $150 of his own money to sell two new cars.
That was a lousy experience you had and I'd give them a bad review on their website.
