Maybe if I had of read the instructions I would have realized that a year ago but pushing the button down for a while did the trick.

Two years ago I bought a Yaber(Chinese) 3000A, 23800mAH charger. It works great, it will jump-start an 8L gas or diesel engine, plus has other abilities. Cost= $79.
It has jump-started my MF 135, my Silverado 5.7L V8, my MF 451 perkins diesel, and other vehicles.
The only thing it doesn't do is work as a battery for my 15G sprayer.

This the equivalent now and it's $59

I currently carry a full size jump pack but am in the market for something smaller and that can be charged from the 12v in the car/truck if desired.

Still trying to decide what to get. Probably not much difference between the compact units like Noco and Goo Loo.

I'd buy the noco long befor goo loo, at least they will be in business next year

I carry jumper cables. I am very skeptical of these jump packs, especially the wildly exaggerated amperage claims.

If they are really are all they are cracked up to be, why haven't auto manufacturers switched over to them instead of lead acid batteries? The weight and space savings would make it worth while.

the batteries don't like the heat. have you tested them since you "know" they are wildly exaggerated?

stick with your jumper cables then, I'll keep using the jump packs that weigh less then 2 pounds, yes i was shocked the first time i saw one used, after owning one for 5 years, it sure makes my life easy.

considering the sheer number ordered (think i saw 20k this month on one) and the average review rating, not entirely sure what your skeptical about, you think 10k reviews are all fake? I assure you they aren't.

This thread is starting to read like an advertisement for NOCO, so I'll throw my plug in. A little over five years ago I saw a guy in home depot parking lot jumping off his truck I told him I have a big jump box if that little one you have will not work and he said this noco has jumped my truck six times today and I have not charged it yet. I asked him when he was going to get a battery he laughed and said it was the alternator and he had one in the truck. We discussed the fact that the truck is not going to run long without a charge on the battery and he said he had left it connected while he was in the store to hopefully charge it enough to make it home. I offered to follow him home but he said no. I done my research after I got home and ordered the one I have now.

the only downside to these jump packs, is the limited duration between jump. on the one i own (not Noco) you only get about 4 seconds before the pack needs to rest. So if you have a truck that needs 20 + seconds to start, this may be slightly frustrating to have to wait a couple seconds in between. these packs do get warm after 20+ seconds.

I think they also perform very poorly in cold weather - worse than lead acid batteries.
I have a lithium pack from Costco that works very well, and doubles as a power pack with connections for anything.
