What did we do before fEL's? I use cross-ties for gate posts. I remember grunting and groaning standing one up into a hole (W/resulting creosote burns), now with my FEL I use a small chain to lift it up and sit in the hole.
FEL's are a lifesaver for sure, especially as we get older they make life easier.

It's all good, that's why we are all here to learn from and help one another, I just got home from the hospital, I had a mild stroke (first for me ) but the only lingering affects so far are left hand and left side of my face is numb, I'm hoping to regain the feeling in both, thank the Lord it was only a small stroke and not a big one, they finally finished all the tests that they did on me today and prescribed several different types of medicine for me to start on, this could have been much worse I am definitely fortunately blessed. Charlie.
Glad you made it through!

Scary to hear about your stroke!! I'm glad you're ok and praying for a full recovery.

Can you explain what happened? What where the warning signs? How did you get help?

Eddie, I was in the woods running my hounds about 1&1/2 hours away from my home and Saturday morning about 10:00 AM I started feeling a tingling or numbness in my left arm and hand but really didn't think that much about it I just figured I had jumped off the dog box wrong and maybe pinched a nerve or something in my back or neck but by around 3:00 PM my lips and left side of my face were going numb, so I headed home and unloaded the dogs and was headed to the emergency room when my oldest son came up and said I was slurring my speech so he drove me to the ER and within a few minutes of me being there they rushed me into trauma and did an CT scan and determined I had a small brain bleed and that I had had a mild stroke, so I was admitted into the hospital and they did a multitude of tests on me Sunday and Monday. They saw that I was very stable and had no paralysis so they let me come home last night and are awaiting the test results to try and figure out why it happened, so we will see. To anyone reading this don't do like I did and postpone going to the hospital, as they said if I would have got there within 4 hours of the onset of the stroke that they could have given me medicine to stop it, but I am very fortunate that it wasn't/isn't any worse than it was, even in my trials on this earth the Lord is with me and I am thankful. Hope everybody has a good week. Charlie.

Thanks for sharing what happened. I worry that I'm the type to ignore something and not go to the doctor if it ever happens. It sounds like you cut it close. If you had ignored it any longer, you might not of been able to drive yourself home!!!

Lineman, Like Eddie - I was sorry to hear about your stroke. I sure do hope all turns out well and you recover just fine. It can happen to any one of us at any time and most of us will just figure it's a just a fluke twinge of the day/age, ignore symptoms and keep trucking on. Which is the absolute worst thing to do. Hope you get better soon!

Back at it, I no-till drilled a couple of different fields with winter rye for a customer yesterday and fertilized some rye fields today, I checked the field that I put in winter oats last week and they are coming up and looks like I am going to have a good stand, I'll try to get some pictures next time I go.

Is the winter rye grass for grazing livestock? We buy a sack and spread it around our yard for green grass in winter, but I heard somewhere that it will cause issues with our horses if they eat it. Something about their gut turning from it and killing them, but I don't remember the details. I've just been afraid to put it out where they can get to it.
