Looking
First off been lurking for about a year. Everybody that has posted and contributed thank you, you've been more help than you know.

Second, I have the opportunity (if you can call it that) to get a heck of a deal. I found a new TYM T754 power shuttle cab that has minor fire damage during transport (transport truck caught fire) and looking for answers on potential negotiating. I figure region matters, I'm buying in East TX.

I know that plastic typically melts at 212°, same for damage to the hydraulic cylinders. The grill was not dripping but did show minor deformation. The battery up front I'm not worried about (have one to replace it), nor anything inside the hood. I think the hydraulic hoses on the loader should be safe and will test the hydraulic cylinders when I see the tractor in person.

The only thing I'm not sure of is the headlights. I'm sure the paint on the front has been degraded, which will lead to quicker rusting. The bucket I'm not too worried about. To keep a long story from being longer, dealer mentioned over the phone asking $47k (correct me if I'm wrong, MSRP should be around $52k, I've seen them listed for $47k in TX), what do you think would be a reasonable price?

Additionally this will be my first tractor purchase. I'm not new to tractors, just never bought one for myself. What all goes into the out the door price? I've heard insurance thrown around and a documenting fee plus any implements purchased at the same time. I just want to know where I stand out the door vs tractor price. I appreciate any help and flame suite on..... Pun intended.

Not 47K, Is the factory warranty intact or is this a as is where is sale, IE. if it breaks in half loading we will pick up each piece and finish loading.

KENO has New cabbed 754's with FEL for $47900 regular price

Warranty is intact as it's a new tractor, made sure to ask that question. My initial thought is to ask $42k.

As is? Warranty? You better talk with the manufacturer first to see if they will still warranty that machine as new. Insurance has already wrote off a bunch of this tractor because of the damage and the dealer picked it up for a song. Now they are trying to sell it to you unrepaired, for the same price as a repaired salvage would be. Ask to see the insurance estimate so you can better understand the cost to make it like new. When you figure all the parts and labor to repair it right, they are making more money duping someone to pay full price to accept damaged goods. You might feel good like you saved a small amount of money, but every time you look at it you will see all the damage.

There are other bargains out there, I would pass at any price. Too many known issues and unknowns that will cost you initially and down the road. As others have said, you can get a new undamaged one for what they are asking.

Dealer has been open and transparent about everything and I'm definitely listening to everybody's concerns. I do not believe insurance was involved, I do know the dealer ordered a new grill.

That's what I said after I got the pictures. I feel like it's worth a look, but not willing to pay full or typical listing price.

Definitely worth a look, especially if you can confirm a Full warranty with TYM Corporate.

What is the asking price?

I would be surprised if the insurance was not involved if not the mfg then the carrier.

For starters I would try somewhere around 40% from list if the damage is limited to the exterior.

EDIT:
I just remembered years ago when six disk drives valued around $4,000 each. WE shipped by some trucking firm to the customer, the truck had a wreck and the carriers insurance paid us list price for all six drives.

All damaged electronics that need repaired/replaced will be expensive.

He has mentioned $47k but to me it sounded like he was feeling it out and wasn't a serious price, he'll definitely go lower in my opinion. Especially since at least one other dealer 300 miles away is listing the same tractor for $48k.

What electronics are in the front? From what I've seen of the TYMs behind the hood is the battery, air filter assembly, cooling stack and associated lines. Am I missing something?

So, even relatively small, easy items add up, like air filter box, battery, battery cables, ect. I would want to be atleast $5k off the lowest price available within 500 miles to even consider it; and that's If the warranty, financing, ect is normal. The paint, and all, that's gonna look worse from normal use, so that's not my main fear.

My worry, chrome on rods, axle seals, ect, that might seem fine, that fail in 50/100 hours from heat damage?

I think it would plan on an immediate fluid change, and then do the normal 50 hour change Too. Maybe that's paranoia...

If the damage is so minor I don't get why the dealer doesn't just replace the fire damaged parts and sell as new.
There must be some basic reason, and I would be very wary.

I'm sure that the serial number has been flagged. That's the only reason that he would be willing to haggle on the price.

Must confirm that the warranty and financing are intact on that unit!
