I just watched a video on the Ram 700 micro truck, and it's low cost and the possibility of bring it to the US. At first it sounded interesting, but 99hp, 2wd only, front wheel only. It mentioned it actually has rear drum brakes, which I like old school, but... that's kinda a big step backwards...

It also is a 100% Fiat, with a Ram badge.

At first, my thought was, this is a more practical, street legal, SxS replacement, but when I finished the video, I dont think anyone is asking for a 99hp, 2wd fwd, unibody, stick shift, Fiat truck.

All sales are way down....tanking. That is what this thread is about.
I'm confused. Sales were never "down" on Charger and Challenger. These models were discontinued / unavailable as of 2024, due to emissions and/or efficiency restrictions, but were enjoying very good sales prior to discontinuation.

How are the sale numbers of the Hornet? That is what is being built now. The Charger and Challenger were axed by the past CEO and he is now gone too.

I was just confused by your assertion that sales of Challenger and Charger were "down". We all know the trouble with Dodge, but it has nothing to do with their customers not wanting what they had been offering. It has everything to do with failing to prepare themselves for the latest emissions and efficiency standards, probably banking too much on the new standards getting axed or furloughed a bit longer.

Everything I've seen says this whole end to the hemi is over, and at least 2 hemis will be returning, the 5.7L and the 6.2L i believe. I "think" the 6.4L is done though?

That may be true. But I do believe the 6.2L is even more a gas hog than the 6.4L, as the cars shipping with that engine had a higher "gas guzzler" tax than the 6.4L's.

The 6.2L is the 700 hp supercharged variant of the 500 hp 6.4L.

Nobody in Europe is either: the Doblo van it is based on, is cheaper and much more practical as a pickup vehicle for a warehouse clerk of some factory. (Workers that go to the jobsite with a bunch of tools and sometimes spareparts, need a bigger engine for the highway and more load capacity anyways)

Isnt this a Brazilian model ?

I, as a European, didnt grow up with cross plane V8 engines. I find them noisy, vibratory and not very refined and would buy the Hurricane inline 6 in a heartbeat, if i lived under North American gas prices and tax regime. To me, theres no point in adding two cylinders when they dont help to reduce engine noise and sophistication.
Though i do understand that the rumbling crossplane V8 with its typical rumble is embedded in American DNA and it hurts many to see it disappear...

IMHO an inline 6 is the best conpromise between engine vibrations, noise, and high vs low RPM capability: You dont have to choose between a heavily counterbalanced crossplane crank that runs good at low rpm with low 2nd order vibrations but a loud exhaust, or a lighter flatplane crank that quicker picks up rpm and sounds smooth, but vibrates more. Inline six doesnt compromise on either...
