Chryslers grandson wants to save the brand

Yall seem to worry too much about ancient history. We are 80 years past the end of the war, and everyone is dead. I'm not preaching for the Austrian fella, or the Georgian one, or Pol Pot, but history moves on. Does anyone care how Von Braun felt? He was a useful tool, as were lots of others, and that's how countries work. The motives of people, that gets over looked. Churchill might be responsible for more deaths than Mr Austria, with the Bengali famine.

Now, if ISIS builds a quality truck, at better rates, with excellent performance, I'm buying, and if that is with Yazitti slaves, so be it.

Sherman would be prosecuted if they lost, as would Churchill and Wheel chair guy. Winners decide what is right or wrong. Even real bad dudes, like Mao or Gengis, are still honored as heros of their countries.

... the Soviets had at least as good of rockets ...
lol... on what planet have you been living?!? :ROFLMAO:

When you care very little about human life, you can make what appears to be very fast progress. "Move fast and break things," when the "things" are your cosmonauts?

@ruffdog is right, we should probably start a new thread, if anyone wants to continue this tangent.

You can see in the Ukraine war that Russia hasnt lost that mindset. Bodies are disposable, just throw more meat into the grinder.

Back in the 1800s there was a law in England that it was forbidden to beat your wife between 8 AM and 6 PM to avoid noise complaints... Let that sink in, 200 years ago we were no different than the 3rd world, in both wealth and ethics.

....or maybe, in this prude age, "hitting the wife" was an euphemism, and (some) wifes were taken rather well care of...? 🤷‍♂️😂

As of right now, on Dodge, build it, you can still build a 2025 Durango RT AWD with a 5.7L. I think the issue is, All I added was a factory towing package, and I'm already at $53,680 ($883/month for 72 months).

You also can still "build it" a 2024...

$54k ain't bad for an R/T with tow, no matter how it's configured. Even paying only a few dollars over dealer invoice on our 2020 model, it was around $65k out the door, pre-COVID. We ordered December 2019 and picked up around February 1st. RT with tow, all leather seating, tech group, "Blacktop" package, etc.

We had to special order to get one without a sunroof, since all pre-configured variants on dealer lots seem to have sunroofs. Worst option ever.

I was looking at the Nex-Gen Charger/Challenger tonight, with the 670 hp dual motor configuration. Nice car, but only being sold initially in Scat Pak trim. I wonder if something better is coming on its heels, in proper SRT configuration. It'd better be, as this EV won't even keep up with the old ICE Hellcat, and is miles and miles short of what Tesla did 12 years ago with the 1000+ horsepower model S Plaid.

One thing the Dodge has going for it is range, beyond what I've seen on even the "Long Range" Tesla's, let alone Performance models.

Being a Mopar lover I think they shot themselves in the foot by doing away with the Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger and Dodge Challenger. They had a strong following and a lot of loyal customers. The problem is they were spending a huge amount of money by buying credits from companies like Tesla because they weren’t getting enough fuel mileage.

Those cars needed to be changed, the basic structure of the car hadn’t changed much since 2005. The problem is they killed that line without having a replacement. They keep putting out commercials telling us what a great performer the Hornet is. They are still looking like they will make a new Charger in both gas engine and all electric. We will see.
Ford and GM are killing off their same in class lines as well.

The issue is that generation of vehicles do not convert to EVS without a complete rebuild and rewrite from ground up.

While the big three were asleep at the wheel, Tesla has done this from ground up for them.

Our 2023 model y will take off on water covered ice roads by pushing the pedal to the metal and holding it there with total control and no slippage.

Take the same Tesla to a dry track and it will do the same thing as the 300 or other former big three vehicles.

Again, Tesla has done the work for the former big three. The frugal-minded person is going to buy a high efficiency EV that will do what the ICE muscle card did in yesterday year BUT without pissing off the EPA.

The cars of tomorrow are here today and some of us are driving the wheels off of them.

By 2050 most of the baby boomers will have made the trip through the funeral homes and our history of what kind of cars we liked in 1965 Will be a small footnote at best.

Ironic! This massive changeover will be Funded by we baby boomers that lose control of our money after our deaths. :)

I dont think its the babyboomers that buy Chargers and the such. Here in Europe the boomers buy crossovers because they want an elevated seat position. Ford quit most conventional models in Europe (Fiesta, Focus, Mondeo) in favour of small crossovers.

Muscle cars (or in Europe: Hot hatches) are bought by people in their 50s, whos children are grown up and moved out so theres time and money for fun. Once used and affordable, young people buy them.

I dont know about the States but in Europe you can see kids at the McDonald's parking lot at night, kicking their Golf or Civic in the rev limiter with a loud fart can exhaust and the airfoil still in primecoat because they didnt have money for the paint shop, whilst the stereo makes their license plate rattle with the bass...

Car culture definately does not evolve about boomers, many of the youngest generation of car owners want noisy cars.
