I dont think the Craigslist app even works anymore.
The app actually works very well.
However, it's rare that I manage to sell anything, but it's also not like I'm selling super high quality stuff, more just leftover not-quite-junk for cheap.

I refuse to cooperate with facebook so I don't use FBM.

You don't need to be a member to use their marketplace.

Yet I still haven't seen anything there I was interested in.
Except one overpriced tandem axle trailer which was listed a year ago.

Last I checked, you need to be a member to sell?

edit: Just checked. Just to look at more than a couple listings it demands a login, and you definitely have to be a member to post. I'd say you do have to be a member to use it.

I see what you mean about selling, but just looked at several trailers but didn't have to log in.
One which caught my eye: a "free" dump trailer. Must be a scam but...
It turns out that it's at a dealer. If they are starting to list the way they do on Craigslist that will render the site just as useless as CL.

Yeah I looked at a few trailers ($150, $200... rentals of course). Tried to set a price range to rule out rentals, but couldn't without logging in. Scrolled down a bit and was told to log in.

I can't even view everything listed without a log in, and definitely can't post/sell without logging in; best I can give is "has some limited functionality if not logged in" and "not worth my bother".

You could try using your favorite search engine to do the searching and winnowing. Then there aren't limits, and you can set whatever combination of search terms you want, though filtering on price can be hard. I use "-rent" or"-rental" or "-/hr" to get rid of the folks who aren't actually selling. YMMV...

If you are into being online, some friends have scored some nice items on FB "free" that someone couldn't be bothered to seek and just wanted it gone.

All the best,

Peter

Did pick up a set of 4 aluminum wheels with fairly decent looking tires on side of the road. They looks to be off a small boat trailer, with a 4 lug pattern. I almost left them, but though, they might match a bit trailer mom is trying to get rid of, that was 15 year old tires, that have completely split open.

Many areas have periodic - here it's yearly - tire disposal amnesties, where you can take up to some number (here 8!) of tires to dispose of them properly, for free. Our transfer station/dump charges an arm and a leg otherwise.

Google for "your county tire amnesty" and then set a calendar reminder for dumping the old tires.

I haven’t bought a “bungee” cord or rubber strap with hooks in 20 years. Way too many freebies laying along the road. ;)

Around my area the free tire recycling ended about 10 years ago

Cost me $38 for 240 lbs of tires at the dump. That was 7 from my dually and 2 trailer tires. It's not too bad. I ordered tires online and did my own mount and balancing.

Ours will take 4 (maybe it's 5, but a full set) once per year. I dont think they keep a record though, so

A fellow I knew for years was an "evil genius"...(rip). Tires reminds me of one of many, many stories about him. His uncle had an old two ton truck with wooden side racks and one day went to a local tire store after they closed and filled the truck with about 200-300 tires they had piled outside. The next day they drove way out in the boonies with a sign "used tires $5". They sold every one by that afternoon.
He was a real "Mister Haney".

There is a recycling charge here on new tires. Cars, pickups, motorcycles etc. are $6.50 each.

Somebody drove down the road in front of my house and threw about 10 tires, some with wheels, over a distance of about a half mile.

Most of the times now, I just pay the fee when I get new tires for the shop to keep the old ones, but i used to just bury them, and save the $5/tire. Old tires do work well for shooting range back stops, when filled with sand, and can make very good leveling drags after you have disced up a field.
