Ok but what about the rusty bodywork ?
You can have that fixed for about the same price as the chassis. :D

Better buy a used vehicle from California. Many European classics get imported back to Europe from California because of the dry climate.

3.5 years ago we were in Oklahoma for one of our kid's weddings. While there, we picked up a 2003 Suburban. High mileage, but very little surface rust and anything that looked like rust on the frame was just red clay, easily washed off. Lots of solid machines out west. Interiors are frequently baked, though.

Back in the 80's a buddy of mine bought a wrecked 4x4 Suburban and removed the body. He shortened the frame so the axles where wear wanted them and then mounted a 56 GMC truck body to the frame. His reasoning was that he could always find parts for a Chevy 350 engine, along with everything else from the Surburban. And he didn't have to do anything extra to get power steering and a reliable automatic transmission. At that time, the cost of the Suburban was just a couple hundred bucks. The GMC was a birthday gift.

He still has it almost 40 years later, and it still runs great.

I've got 2 first generation Bronco's, but I'm doing most of the restoration work myself not sending to Velocity. All the body panels are available to fix the rust, but so are full bodies from a few places. Body work is one thing I don't do, and it was cheaper to buy a complete new body than pay someone to fix the one on my 73, nearly every piece had rust. The market has gotten so high on Broncos these days that you can spend the $ on a high end restoration and not worry about getting it back if you sell. I watched a little of the Barrett-Jackson auction this weekend and saw several Bronco's go for $200k+
