Do you have a good physical therapist near you? Ours is only 1.5 miles away. Short car rides aren't to bad but long ones may tax you for a few weeks.
Dr. said I was able to drive 48 hours after off narcotics. So I'll be able to drive in about 4 years.
Just kidding.

I have a history with addiction from my youth, recognize that, and request meds that are not addictive if at all possible. So they gave me oxycodone in the hospital.

Works great! Too great! So I cut the oxy in the hospital in half and then in half again when I got home. Stopped all pain killers about 6 days ago. Just tylenol. They will NOT let me do any PT for 12 weeks. Just walk as much as possible (not easy in a small house with snow on the driveway). Disturbs the cats, too. They take a whack at me every time I pass by with the walker. They like to grab the velcro on the back brace. So, I just wear the brace except when sleeping. Wife had me out in the passenger seat many times already. Could only take about 1/2 hour in the 2020 Subaru. Just not comfortable in the passenger seat. Yesterday I took the wife for a drive and drove our 2003 Suburban around for about 2 hours yesterday. Took a tour of local lakes to check out the ice fishing action I'm gonna miss out on this year.

Lots of folks. Snowmobiles and 4 wheelers. So fishing must to good.
Anyhow, after 2 hours, that was enough. They said 12 weeks before PT. 12 more weeks of PT to get off reduced workload at work. After that, it's up to me.
I'd like to get back into powerlifting again, but that has it's hazards as well...
