Hope you enjoy your time in paradise scotty while we suffer thru winter. There is a direct correlation between low to no sun spot activity and cold weather. The sunspots almost stopped in December still very low

Good morning TBN!!
43 this morning and may get to 70 today.
I agree tinhack 80 Tuesday, 48 yesterday and 70 today. Quite the rollercoaster!
Not much yesterday.
Walking with the dog mostly.
Broke the welder out and ran a few beads for practice and the plasma cutter. Cut up some metal that I think I will weld to my tank as resistance to just pushing the tank for the bridge pushing out again. Wings if you will :)
Not too much on the agenda. Anxious to get the bridge started but it will be a couple more days to get it delivered. As usual "hurry up and wait"!

Time for second cup and see what the day holds.

Everyone have a great and safe day!!

good morning, 33 and iced over with a thick layer of

Used ice cleats this morning walking Cody for short walk. Thankfully they give a very good grip on the ice

Checked over the tractor yesterday and found two leaks. Chased one down to coolant leak and used a long Phillips screw driver to tighten up a hose clamp. The other was an oil leak that turned out to go away after wiggling one of the quick connects for the hydraulics for the snow plow.

Watching the National Prayer Breakfast on tv to see if I can spot D in the audience

Good Morning!!!! 40F @ 5:00AM. Periods of rain. High 48F. Winds light and variable. Chance of rain 100%. Rainfall may reach one inch. Locally heavy rainfall possible.
New 10-day shows Friday as being dry, as well as Saturday and Sunday. I might be able to head south a day early.

I've not done it myself, but lots of info on the 'net on refilling the small propane bottles from the bigger 5 gallon ones. I'm not brave enough to risk cutting or drilling one without first figuring out how to fill it with water.

Hang in there, gang, Friday's comin'!

Good Morning from Central Texas.
At 5am, 66 degrees with same Dew Point. An unusual stretch of warm weather the last week. Wouldn't mind if we had a cold front, just not too cold!
OPINION / Question: Didn't know where to post this, so doing it here. Has anyone "made safe" / "cut into" a propane bottle. I am speaking of the 14 ounce ones like:

Now I know, NOT TO just take a grinder with a cut-off wheel to it ! What I am asking is "has anyone done this". I watched some U-tube videos where they say to block open the valve, fill with water and let that sit a week or two - claiming the gas needs to leach out of the metal ? Sounds safe, but I'd really like to hear from someone who has actually cut / drilled these before I attempt it.
I use these all the time and have accumulated a bunch of them. The local metal recycle places will NOT take them without being cut up / hole drilled in them. Thanks in advance.
Headed to Dallas. Hope all have a better day than I will. ;)
I would use a hacksaw when empty, if nervous use a hacksaw in a pan of water with the bottle submerged. Or a cordless drill while in a bucket of water.

Morning all;
Nice brisk 10F with a blowing fine snow at this time, forecast 3-5" then some freezing rain and possibly a bit more snow this evening. So no plowing till late today or tomorrow morning, keep any freezing rain in the snow.

A bit of limited visibility from the fine blowing snow.

All stay safe and warm.

Morning all!
Currently at 6 going to 29. 3-6 inches on the way with freezing rain to top it off.
Feeling better this morning! Will probably play in the shop while I wait to go do cleanup.
Speaking of the shop I was pleasantly surprised to win an award yesterday over numerous other turners on a world wide turning page!

Not much happening around here. Just trying to make it to spring.

I bought the first one from Harman. Didn't last any better than the last two I got on Amazon. Both of mine have the no shut off issue sporadically. Voltage spikes or drops from the power company are killing mine I think. Not sure, all I know is they get crunchy when you try to adjust them. That signals time for changing! I did find a site that list heavy duty replacements if you can do repairs. Brother in law was lead engineer at Simples time recorder. Easy peasy repair for him.
Coffee time!
Be careful with storm cleanup all!
Hope everyone stays safe and healthy!
I now have a surge protector on mine, and if I need to run on generator, it's the inverter gen that gets used now.

Morning all, 31 going to 41 and cloudy.
Sheet ice from sleet this morning, school on remote for the son.

Got a bench put together for the kitchen.
Still feeling weak, took me a while to assemble as had to take frequent breaks. No sleep.

Congrats on the award Phil, well deserved.

Be well,

Had 6 deer cross the driveway, one at a time. from large to small in order.
