BX Bucket edge, Piranha tooth,pro or straight? Pros and Cons of each.

My six foot Land Pride grapple has ten large teeth across its lower lip. The upper jaw has nine teeth. I was going to get a Piranha tooth bar and install on the lower lip. Tighten up the distances between upper/lower jaw when the grapple is closed tight. Unfortunately - the spacing just did not work out.

I use the grapple to gather - clamp - pull - stands of Buck brush. A few always slip thru.

I installed the bar and I must say it appears to be a well made piece. The bolt holes did not even come close to lining up but that is fine as the buck drilled very easy. I have not used it yet but it looks good and fit well.

Great to hear it gave you little trouble on the install; we expect photos!

Works great for digging in to piles of dirt that contain rocks. I remove it in the winter and switch to the bxpanded bucket expander, which doubles the heaped capacity of the bucket - great for moving snow!

Check can you send pictures of the bucket expander, the ones on there site don't really show me how much it adds to the bucket.

I just installed the standard Bxpanded Piranha Toothbar on my tractor bucket earlier today.


Did an initial test fit and everything looked good. It really stiffens up the bottom of the bucket!

I then seated the bar firmly onto the bucket edge with a block of oak and a short handled sledge and marked where to drill the bolt holes with a scratch awl. The directions called for 3/4" holes but I stopped at 11/16th with my step bit as that was all that was needed.

Took it out for a quick test after getting the bolts installed on some rocky/rooty ground that I had attempted to smooth with just the std bucket previously with little luck. This thing bar cut thru hard and pulled rocks loose WAY better than the std bucket and back dragged nicer as well. Very satisfied so far and looking forward to giving it a thorough work out very soon.

I went with a Piranha for both tractors. Drilling for the M4700 was a real pain. The bucket had double thick (seemingly hardened) steel where the holes had to go. Burned up several bits.
And it should come in bright orange, to remind people of the hazard.

You have the excavation bucket and not the material bucket then. Material buckets are all single side sheets, single bottom sheet as well.

Myself, I prefer the ATI tooth bar as it has replaceable tungsten carbide teeth.
