I’m going to own one of those some day. I can’t do the heavy brush and small tree removal work by hand down on the ground forever.
They can do a lot of work and everything looks real nice afterwards. I’ve seen them mounted on skid steers, wheeled loaders, and tracked excavators. They are high maintenance, especially when working in rocky ground.

People ask me “is the cummins really that good?”
It’s hard to explain to the non-owner the way they pull with a trailer. They just pull more “linear”. And you don’t feel nervous about running them hard all day. The rest of the truck, which people have made a cottage industry out of mocking, has been very good. Very little to complain about.
If I were running a diesel truck just to get attention, I’d do a Ford or a GM. They are faster and more fun to drive. A 6.7 Cummins is built for work. It’s found in trucks up to a tri-axle in size and AG farm tractors and many other commerical applications. Powerstroke & Duramax are non-existent there.
You see the Cummins in log skidders, motor homes, and many types of heavy equipment. Not the Powerstroke or Duramax.

I am still amazed at seeing what a forestry mulcher can do on a compact track loader, and it's a wonder they don't tear themselves to pieces in the process. That being said, I don't think I could justify the $150,000 or so starting investment cost.

As a ford guy, I will admit the Cummins is a much better engine.

After the 7.3 ford has gone downhill on diesels. Whether it be the 6.0, 6.4, or the 6.7, all have some significant issues.

The Cummins just works

And as far as I’m concerned, the 5.0 has been almost faultless, the worst thing, the ford dealer charged a small fortune for Spark plugs at 130,000 miles, a tad over $400
I'd bet most of that was labor, plugs aren't exactly accessible in most modern vehicles.
My Ram is 5YO and has zero rust. I will admit, my Fords didn’t rust, either.
The reason is because I took care of them and washed out the undersides.
I'd imagine they use a lot less road salt down your way than they do up this way. That having been said, they do seem to last longer than they did 20 or more years ago.

Neighbor tows distance several days weekly his loaded 24’ enclosed bumper pull trailer.

He had zero issues with his Ford 1998 Diesel Excursion except racking up the miles so he traded for brand new Diesel Ford pickup and a series of new diesels since from GM and Ford and each with problems… even went GM gasser and that had lots of problems

Looking back he did not realized how good he had it with the Excusion… zero issue and traded at mid 200k miles.

Now he has a Dodge and says it’s much better than his last 20 years of GM and Ford but it has had a few things.

I guess building bullet proof diesels rigs ended with the 7.3?

Rust never a problem where we are in California.

I’d like more land . When i was looking to buy some up north I was wanted 20 acres but everything I looked at in the area that was around lakes region NH has all kinds of covenants. Wife is pretty much a city girl so can’t go too far in the boonies.

I’m not looking to put a strip mall or anything but with 20 I’d want to maybe put a second house on it for my daughters if they wanted. So no restrictions and no right of ways is a must. Ended up with 6.5 and got in right before the prices jumped. It’s a great investment as is. I paid 15k an acre. Now everything there is 30 -75k per acre.

We’re waiting for my girls to graduate HS then we are out MA!!!
Once that happens we’ll have a bunch of cash to deal with as we own our house 100%. I’ll either build on our land up north or sell that too and look for something with newer construction and acreage.

TLDR: more land and a new house

How about 150 acres of Big Sur with a private beach?

Current property tax is 16k per year… I bet the sale can’t happen soon enough for the county because that 16k property tax will increase by a million unless there are some exemptions in place:

For a 100,000,000 no A/C?
