When I first started working in cryptography in the '90s I wanted a German WWII enigma machine. Back then they were $20k or so which was way more than I wanted to spend. Now it's more like 10x that for an early three rotor one (the most common and lowest value) and I can't even find a price for a four rotor model.

The Enigma (the allied name for it) was a field portable cipher machine where you set the key and then typed in plaintext and got ciphertext on the output, or the reverse. The output was letters that would light up.

When I was in the USAF (1964-68) I learned how to operate a American Crypto machine.

I think they were similar to the ones the Germans used in WWII.

If we can’t come together as a country what future can we expect.

We do know programs and spending that have not worked and being trillions in debt is the sobering reality.

It’s a shame but the only times Ive seen the country united is when we have been attacked… stories from Peal Harbor to living it from 9/11

Maybe the shift occurred moving away from equal opportunity to equal outcome?

Punishing success and subsidizing failure?

I know first hand many immigrant families living the American dream… the dream is their kids will have a better life.

I don’t pretend to understand why so often the big picture gets dismissed… or form over substance.

A local hospital, not my hospital, run for decades by the sisters of charity provided over 80% charity care… no one turned away as it was their mission…

With new mandated Family Planning Laws coming the sisters asked for a religious exemption and it was denied.

The sisters said they could not be true to their faith so they left…

All that mattered is the sisters stance on abortion and not the decades of providing healthcare to poor and indigent without question.

make sure you have the height for it, I would have bought the lift 10 years ago, if i didn't have to raise the roof 10 feet to support it.
