That's why I always find it so funny when people claim these old vehicles were "bulletproof" or "they don't build them like they used to". Someone made that exact claim about a 1939 Dodge or Plymouth in another thread just today. We happened to own one of those, the original owner retired it after less than 5 years, my dad bought it from him as a junker for $15.It didn't even have 30,000 miles. He didn't even have it a full 3 years at that point.
People claiming new cars are junk are willfully ignoring the fact that today's cars routinely go 3x - 5x the average mileage of any car build 50 years ago.
