Very little work on deck.
Got the rest of trex off trailer and on the deck, then moved trailer out of back yard before the rain comes.
Worked on corner. They say to leave gap for expansion. Weird because deck already had double joist on edge but single outside band board.

good morning, 62 going to 75

We deal with occasional seizures for Cody also. Very scary for sure

May mow some more grass today. Trying to get ahead of it this year.

good talk with neighbor yesterday. He likes our tree plantings along the property line and it is inspiring him to start clean up of an overgrown area and continue the line of trees on his property. Offered to help with the excavator. When I cleaned up overgrown areas found out that the excavator was the right tool for the job
If your dog is having seizures, you better get to the vet and get medication right away, because untreated seizures apparently increase the likelihood of future seizures

Drinking first cup of coffee. 45° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 57° with clouds and a NW breeze. .24" rain over night. Got neighbors truck running Battery test good after charging. Off to Sam's Club for new tires. Did some shopping at other stores while waiting for tires to be installed. Had to repair one of my bird feeders. Deer are not doing good to this feeder. Did not get time to do all that is needed on garden pond. Will be on top of list today. Then see what else I can get into.

good morning all
a wet Saturday, .17 on gauge, looks like on and off showers all day
63 out now, high of 73
was hoping it was a hard enough rain to wash the pollen off my car, hood had turned from
blue to yellow

up early, thankfully have a good book to turn to, I'm a sucker for first contact scifi.
when you've spent too much of your life analyzing insurance policies and dry contractual
law verbiage, I admit I like to enjoy a little fantasy in my reading. Have the 12 dollar a month unlimited
Amazon Kindle reading plan and read several books a week. Usually in small doses as I fall asleep with a Kindle
in my hand. Arthritis has gotten bad enough in my hands that holding a traditional hard back books is
impossible for me, and now even having a hard time with paperbacks. Kindle is the lightest and easiest to hold, plus
I can vary the brightness and font size to make reading easier. Some paperbacks come with really tiny print.

all of my plants got in the ground yesterday, including the new Yuka cherry shrub I planted out front.
previous shrub never did well there, gets flooded too often I think, near the road and heavy rains run through that
part of the property back to Lake Drew. Was told to keep plant elevated a bit, build it up vs sinking it low like normal.
which I did.

Deutzia Yuki Cherry Blossom

"Yuka Cherry" likely refers to the Yuki Cherry BlossomĀ® Deutzia. This is a popular, small, and deer-resistant shrub known for its delicate pink flowers in spring, turning a rich burgundy-purple in the fall. It's a hardy plant that thrives in full sun to partial shade and is part of the Proven Winners collection.

64 going to 80...a little shower last night, probably more today.

Don, congrats on the raise! Daily strawberries sounds good, too.

Phil, glad your wife is on the mend with her tooth.

My truck went to jail. Here's the story...

Thursday, I left at sunrise to do a day hike into a Shenandoah NP canyon and up to a waterfall from the boundary on the Valley side. I did my usual research on google maps, a hiking website, and the SNP website, and all looked good. Most of the roads leading up to SNP are dead ends when they reach the boundary, and there are often nice homes/estates/farms/preservation forests along the way. Apparently, the local property owners had the county close the small parking area at the dead end...and post No Parking signs along almost a mile of the road, saying no parking between signs, but the signs were spaced in a way that was quite confusing. There were even two reviews of the trail this month that didn't mention the no parking situation. The trailhead itself is still open and legal.

When I arrived, there was one car parked, and another just parking and getting out with their dogs. They said they were renting a nearby cabin and the owners said this spot was good to park. I knew better, but parked behind them.

After a lengthy hike doing a loop up the mountain of over 9 miles, returned to the bottom where two SNP rangers were finishing some trail maintenance. We hiked out having a good conversation only to find their truck was parked exactly where mine used to be! Another man was getting picked up there, because his car got towed, too. He asked me if I drove a Tundra, and said it was one of 3 they towed.

So, stuck miles from the highway, one or two bars on the cell phone, with a big dog hungry for dinner. The rangers, one young man and woman, were extremely helpful. She called to brief the SNP and her supervisor said they could not give me a ride in the park truck, but could assist. They stayed with me. The man tried to use his Uber account to get a "pet uber," but no luck. I tried to get a shuttle from a lady I have used up in Northern Virginia, but she was in MD. She tried to get a friend to rescue me, but she was working late. She also told me two places I could stay in Front Royal that were hiker-dog-friendly since the towing company closed at 5pm. The rangers had called the sheriff to locate the towing company and get the Front Royal address. Then found a taxi that would come pick Della and me up.

So, first time Della had slept in a motel, and first time since we got her that she didn't sleep in her crate, which she loves and goes to at night when she is ready to "go to bed." We had a great take out dinner from a placed called Spelunkers, across the street...if you are within 20 miles, go there and get the Cavern burger. Another taxi ride got me to the towing company when they opened at 8am. 5 minutes and $220 later we were on our way up to SNP to at least get a bonus hike up a mountain on the way home. Most expensive hike ever.

Good Morning Billy,
Most expensive hike ever.
Billy OMG, what a story ! You obviously handled it way better than I would have šŸ˜‰
So glad that you got the bonus hike in, partly makes up for the $220 towing charge. Did you find out from the rangers where the correct parking place would be ? Or do they just expect you to hike over a mile before you start the real hike ? 😳

Good Morning Dennis,
They say to leave gap for expansion
Hmm, I left gaps at the boards that met perpendicular to one another but not the corners šŸ˜‰ That may prove to be a problem down the road. I did leave gaps around the posts.im glad someone did it correctly šŸ˜‰

66 outside this AM, heading to mid 70's.

Slight rain coming down.

Need to get busy with the animals. Behind schedule. Seems to be the norm these days. Slowing down I guess.

Over 3 miles with the weed whacker yesterday. And more push mower. Just need one more spot by the house done....was hoping today would be the day.

Nice hike, wngsprd. A story to tell for a good long time. Better signs are needed there. For sure.

Hope all have a great day. Be safe.

Good Morning,
Vt, 42 to start going to 63. We have rain and fog this morning and I can actually see the grass growing šŸ˜‰

Kathleen is down in Ct taking care of 2 of our grands, because our oldest son and DIL are in NAPA valley until Monday. So I will be headed back to help her later today.

I did manage to get a few things done here but still plenty more to do. We are both coming back up on Thursday, and I know Kathleen will want to clean out her flower bed in the front of the house and just a general clean up around the entire house.

I did manage to get the bush hog on yesterday but didn’t touch up the blades yet. I did my next door neighbor yesterday who owns more property than me, I think he owns about 15 acres. He bought a new Kioti with a 4 ft bush hog. I didn’t want to hurt his feelings, but he will be mowing forever with a 20 or 22 horse tractor with a 4 ft hog šŸ˜‚. I guess he will get it figured out this summer. He really needs at least a 40/45 hp machine with a 6 ft mower. JMO.

Well that’s it for now, hope all have a good Saturday šŸ™

all these nice decks. Shows how much we want to get outside again.

not much rain so far, not much predicted it seems
but at least it's all green out there
the test will be if it was enough to wash the layer of yellow off my car.
I may need to squirt it off.

I think we are still in a drought situation though I don't think car washing is prohibited. I need to check, seeing as how
I've now met the acquaintance of the police chief who sits in her desk 1/4 mile down the street.
was thinking of a good joke where I have to call my brother to bail me out of jail for illegal car washing, where he is
in cahoots with the Chief. As I'm hauled off in leg irons. ;) I wonder how many hits on YT we could get with that.
Plus the township maintenance is right there also and they drive past me constantly, am on waving terms with the guy
in the big blue dump truck.

Good Morning Mike,
Maybe a zero turn is in his future
Mike he has a 52ā€ Bad Boy mower, for his yard around the house maybe 2 acres. That wouldn’t have been my choice either but the field is too rough for the ZTurn. I really wanted to tell him but couldn’t get myself to do it.

I probably mow 7 acres of field with a much larger tractor and a 5 ft mower and it still takes me at least 5 hours or more of bouncing around out in the field šŸ˜‰. He will figure it out soon 😁
