Grasshopper 725, runs 20-30 min then dies

Grasshopper 725 runs great for about 20-30 minutes then just dies. It then has to sit until it cools t o restart. Had a new coil put it and still continues. During the time it sits it does not have spark. Any ideas?

Not 100% sure. It’s blue. It’s a buddies. Can’t locate any markings on it.

Clogged fuel filters will exhibit that symptom.

Kubby 3 cylinder gasser... I'd say clogged fuel filter or bad condenser. Could be a gunked carb from bad e-gas as well.

Fogged fuel filter would? It doesn’t spark after it shuts down.

Then the little 'do not remove' black box is shot and so is the rotor. Looks terrible, probably the cap is shot as well. Time to buy a replacement kit.

I cleaned it up a bit with some sandpaper. How do I go about finding out what Kubota motor I have to get a replacement? Everything I see and Google doesn’t come up with a Kubota motor.

Call your local Kubota dealer and give him the engine serial number. He can get what you need. I would never buy any ignition related parts from Amascon simply because the quality won't be good.

The engine number is usually stamped on the head on the right or left hand side towards the front, below the valve cover. It begs for a bath as well, thing is filthy.

Yes i don’t disagree! If it wasn’t a front mount I would snatch it from my buddy!

I own a Kubota Front mount diesel mower and so does a couple other posters on here, but again, mine is diesel not gas. Tank holds 15 gallons of diesel which is good for an entire season of mowing.

Kubota WG600 motor. It has a distributor, but I dont believe it has points.

Here is a Grasshopper dealer I have bought parts from online and they have served me well!

I bought used 721D (Diesel) hopper back in 2003 and we are using it regularly.

Front deck zero turn mower is unbeatable when mowing around fruit trees.


The Mower Shop
