Is the Cyber Truck a Flop?

Musk was after the publicity and got it. Win or lose he won't go broke. DeLorean went to drug money to try to save his fortune.
Musk has a mass fortune; he will just move on.
I'm not anti-electric car but I won't invest in the growing pains.
The CT is not a practical truck that's made to use as such. The CT came out strong but only time will finish the story.
Oversized door wedge!

The people who want to bankrupt Musk are models of stupidity. If he lost his entire stake in Tesla, he would still be worth $350 billion.

A lot of people would be happy with one billion.

Friends and neighbors work at Tesla and would be out of a job and the millions in local taxes would evaporate…

The name is silly. "Cyber" is generally used to label things related to the Internet, including things that only exist there, so I don't understand where "Cybertruck" came from.
Musk is all about the hype. WTF is a "giga" factory? Another meaningless term that makes something sound more special than it is.

Friends and neighbors work at Tesla and would be out of a job and the millions in local taxes would evaporate…
People lose jobs and taxes evaporate when ANY large business closes/cuts back. Why should Tesla employees be any different than those at other companies?

It's unfortunate when any business takes a hit due to something as rediculous as politics and customer virtue signalling. I guess one thing that makes Tesla different is that it was a company firing on all cylinders, due to a lot of good work by their employees, who are now facing job loss due solely to their leader's involvement in politics.

This is quite different than when the big 3 suffered from foreign competition, because of their bad management, bad labor unions, bad design, bad build quality, etc.

Is that really any worse than every passenger vehicle ever sold?

"It loses half its value when you drive it off the lot," became a pre-internet meme for a reason.
"Half its value" was a joke; a car definitely loses value by being registered, but not actually very much; the first miles are by far the most costly.

Better cars tend to have about a 60% residual after 3 years, 36k miles - they still haven't actually lost half at that point.

But idk what anyone expects - Tesla's always been ahead of the curve ;)
