Drew I believe you were a legend in Washington NC sounds as if you miss it. I sold the equipment in the jail there. Home of Fountain Boats and Reggie Fountain. Used to see prototypes running up and down the river. Very high end clients for sure.

Hate to see family farms sold wngsprd.

Yep, me, too. Neither my wife nor her younger brother live close by. He grew up there, but she had moved out as an adult before they bought the farm.

As their dad grew older, he knew he would not keep farming it, so planted trees on most of the farm that wasn't already forest. He was a retired professor and loved farming/hunting as a sideline...he planted sawtooth oaks and long-leaf pines. One section of the forest has bald cypress trees that are hundred of years old...very majestic. Some of the oldest ones in the world are in southeast NC, where researchers have found some over 2,600 years old.

That one doe looks pregnant m7040

Riding Holly around yesterday evening we saw more deer than I’ve seen in a long time grazing beside the road. They have lengthened season to cull the herd but it’s not working young people do not seem to be taking to hunting sad. Great father son family bonding time

Morning all, 55 going to 74 and sunny.
10pm no aurora , but it seems the smoke from up north is making the sky strangely lit.

First corn plants are up, tiny but there.

Spent a few house power washing pool deck, about 20% done.

Peddlers village mini car show, by the time we got there many cars had left.

More PW later.

Good Morning to All who Celebrate! 61° going to a high of 76°, clear and sunny until the weekend.

A slow weekend, Spent most of a rainy Saturday not doing much of anything. Sunday, dragged my campground owning friend up to the property to do a proper walkover. It's not perfect, but good enough. Views over the mountains, a few boggy spots, the power right of way isn't as bad as it was made out to be, next door neighbors are a ski community and the 17 acres I was originally interested in. Looks like there's already a good level spot for a house. If I were a rich man, I'd buy both plots, but sadly I am not. We also discovered this massive maple tree that's on the way out, friend for scale:

Big Tree.jpg

If trees could talk, that one could certainly tell some stories.

I'm trying to get the offer letter in my grubby little hands so I can look over it before submitting, but I'm still waiting on the realtor. Farm Credit approved me fortunately and I need to talk to them about a building loan for the house. I'm thinking either Log Home or Modular. Will need to look into a fairly heavy duty brush hog for this land too, as it's again the remnant of an old hay field that's already being started to be reclaimed by the forest. I'm thinking borrowing a post hole digger to put trees in along the property line...again, I'm getting ahead of myself. Haven't even bought the place yet, but I am excited about this place. So cross your fingers for me!

Goals for this week: Finalize offer letter, look for some modular homes, survive work week, continue mowing.

Prayers for all ailing and recovering, also praying you guys in the Great White North get those awful fires under control. I really do hope we (USA) are sending mutual aid, It's a well known fact Canadian water bombers regularly fight fires out West here in the States.

Y'all stay safe out there and be well! Enjoy the week!

Good morning! 85˚ heading to the low 90s, no chance of rain.

A busy stressful morning at the tax office protesting my property tax valuation. They went up 17% from last year and I got it reduced 18%, so success!
