ATV mounted sprayer

I got an old North Star 26 gallon atv mounted sprayer. It doesn't have an agitator.
How can i mix glyphosate with water in the tank? Just to fill half tank, add required
amount of glyphosate, and finish with water? Looking for suggestions...

I normally fill 1/3 tank of water, put the glyphosate in and fill the rest of the way. Not sure if there is much more you need to do. If your concerned then use a spray want to agitate the water more when filling.

I have the exact unit. I love everything about it except the lid that just doesn't want to properly thread but whatever. Glyphosate will go and largely stay in suspension. I do what Sportsman762 does but in the end I use an ash shovel but you could use any large scoop or paddle and stir with a gloved hand of protection. You can watch it improve the mixing as the color changes.

For chem that doesn't stay in suspension, I stir and have a dedicated mixing pump that pulls from the opposite end of the tank and then vents straight down into the tank...from the hole plug that replaced the lid (not depicted in photo). Now there's two round wood plates screwed together. One fits inside the lid hole; the other just sits on the top with a small pump mounted to the top of the new "lid". This seems to keep chemicals like pre-emergents suspension along with thrashing the thing around a bit with "drunk weave" driving. BTW, the quick disconnect is great for separating the tank from the spray assembly. The TeeJets are wonderful; they will tolerate about 125 psi IIRC but they pop at 5 psi which means they dribble what's below the internal valve but doesn't allow the entire hose to drain.

Wouldn't accelerating then stopping in quick, jerky motions mix the contents? Bumpy or hilly terrain might do the same. The tank would need to be sealed when you do this, of course.

Some good advice already delivered.

If readers haven't already bought a tank, I recommend one that mixes on exit. There's a separate tank for your chemicals, so mixing is easy and you can control the concentration. Extra chem tanks make it easy to switch chems, too.

If it doesn't have a hand/spot wand, add one. Stick the sprayer end into the tank and run it a few minutes. I always put about 3/4's or nearly to full water in the tank before adding glysophate. When adding water it foams up real bad so less room. I use the spot wand to agitate the mix, never seen any issues when doing this of the mix separating afterward.

Exactly what I do with my ATV bed mounted sprayer and you driving and spraying keep it mixes. My big 3 point mount 250 gallon spray rig has continuous agitation provided by the pto driven roller pump an it's adjustable as well. Glyphosate when mixed in the tank will stay mixed for a long time anyway. Other chemicals, not so much.

Chemical gloves when mixing or no touch. I do the no touch method myself, followed by a rinse and a tad bit of Dawn dishwash detergent and another rinse. Don't forget to remove tnd clean the Tee-Jet strainers located at each spray head either.

My ATV sprayer use to have a mixing valve on it but I use that for a boomless nozzle. I find just driving around a bit mixed just fine.

That's how I mix my 35G sprayer. I have a special hose with no end fitting and city water pressure of 100PSI.
I don't have a UTV/ATV, so I put the tank on a 3-pt carrier I made and run wiring to the tractor battery.
I haven't tried this in my new bigger tractor yet.

I don't understand the question. Mine sits in the bed and runs off of a rv battery. I could hook it into the UTV power, but I prefer to keep 'em separated. (Queue the music)

We usually use the wand, but it has a boom, too.
