How could Artificial Intelligence become dangerous?

This is happening due to outsourcing already.
Companies losing buyers in first world countries building up markets in 2nd and third tier countries to make up for the loss of income.
If we have enough people here sending money to home countries, it drains our economy.

My son is going for an Education Major with business minor.
Both wife and I are IT, and see that as a bad choice.
At the colleges we visited, the lines for IT majors were non-existent.
Lines for business, law and poly sci were full up.
Medical support (nurse etc.) seems like an AI proof occupation for a while.

As a retired teacher I would advise him to major in what he wants to teach and then get the certificate later.

The education courses are the most useless. Teachers are better with more actual subject matter knowledge.

Education is very different today, sometimes in good ways and sometimes not.
But it's not the same as when we were kids.
They already have more tech involvement and my son went AP english so he is off to a good start.
AI is awful at teaching (for now) and has no empathy. so getting kids interested is not AIs strong point.

It probably could for the most part.
Even if it wasn't AI, you could just hire monitors at a lower rate and have students watch recorded lectures. That's right. It turns out that the direct instruction that some teachers hate is actually what works best for most students.

AI would be better at catching cheaters. I'm imagining parents arguing with the AI over why Tracy is failing.

We love to compare our system in the US with other countries, but few of them have the same level of 'universal' education. Many recognize that not everyone is wired for or capable of the same things.

AI could, theoretically, evaluate each student and maximize their potential while ensuring that each student learns the basic 3 Rs things you need to function in society.

The problem with AI, for everything, is that it reaches a tipping point where it learns that life forms are the weakest link.

Long before the Sun consumes the Earth, our hubris will eliminate meaningful human life.

I see a lot of resumes and I think around 60% are made with AI.

It's getting hard to hire people that have a brain that is not tarnished with AI.

I completely understand how the program works. The drawback is that someone with just an English major will get more education on English than will an English Education major. Post graduate certification gives you the same embedded experience, but you have more subject matter knowledge to support your ability to teach a subject.

I think it's safe to say that youth respond better to AI than we do. They are literally being raised on it. To them, it is far better and more capable than a human. Whereas we may value the human in the equation, kids my son's age (16) value AI and its capabilities moreso.

Also, when students don't do work, but use AI instead to summarize... What is the point of it all? The test of education is whether or not a student can use AI and not get caught... Not what does the student actually know.

Claims are being made that AI will start creating new technologies in 12 months. It will be creating them, not us. It will solve for all of physics. I think it's dangerous to say that ones career isn't suited to AI. That it's safe. I fear people who take that view are in for a very rude awakening.

My son is pursuing a career as a professional pilot, and I HIGHLY doubt he will see that career through to actual retirement. Not at the pace AI advances. I've been working to convince him that early retirement like his pop, is something worthy of pursuing. He may only have 10 years to accumulate personal wealth, so he better take advantage
