Good Morning
70° with a high in the upper 80’s forecast under a bright sun.

Thanks for the anniversary wishes, I shared them with the bride.

Didn’t accomplish much yesterday, had a nice lunch with the wife, fished with the grandson from the new dock, caught a few bass, which were returned to the pond. I made a simple dinner of Drew’s tomatoes on home made sourdough with cheese melted over them, and we ate outside on the patio while Zoe ran around and brought us random toys that she left out in the field.

Today I have to make sure that I have things in line for tomorrow’s records inspection by the FAA. This one is for maintenance records, and should be quick and uneventful. Some times they bring an OPs inspector to look at operational records as well, sort of a pop quiz. I’ll make sure I have everything up to date and at my fingertips.

After that I’ve got to cut some sandblast mask for the rockman, and of course, there is the usual whatever pops up.

66 outside right now, heading to mid 80's today.

Must have been the TBN early wakeup calls happening this AM. LOL. Was up at 3AM myself. Tylenol and Cortisone. Chigger bites are in full bloom. At strategic bends of the body, of course. They seem to be popping up all over. Left side especially bad.

Had a good day yesterday, got the gate up and done. Unfortunate the lock mechanism was no where to be found. The wife brought home a new red one. LOL. All they had available. I took one look at it and off to the back forty I went to swap it out for a black one already installed. That took the better part of the morning.

The rest of the day we ended up at a neighbors for a few hours. Escaping the MIL was nice. First break for the wife and I in months.

Still in ketchup mode. Good to hear all are hanging in there. We need to take sucess and positive health where we find it.. no matter how small.

Hope all have a good day. Be safe.
@riptides Looks nice! Do those latches work well for you, or perhaps more importantly, your horses? Many moons ago, I visited a breeder that had those style latches and they grumped a bit that their horses were always opening the latches, but I've known some horses to do strange things, like a friend's horse that liked to let itself out of its stall, and then proceeded to rearrange the rest of the herd, one by one into different stalls, and then lock everyone, including itself back in.

What are the orange boots for one your near horse?

All the best,

Peter

FWT, check harbor freight for chains.
Found that sams club carries golf cart batteries. will check there.
I pay my taxes the full amount, and early to get the discount. paying half and half means more money to them.

Yes the latches are good for us. The horses are pretty docile and usually don't hang around the gates. The gates swing both in and out of the pasture. Good latch design, easy enough for one hand operations. The wife insists on chaining them though. So be it.

One definitely has to be aware of these animals. They are pretty smart and some have strong personalities.

The orange boots are for flies, and morning dew. Some think they suppress the stomping the horse does when flies are buzzing. Me, I don't really have an opinion on them. I usually find one out in the pasture at least once a week. Most all the horses here have them.

Check batteries plus stores, good selection, ready to go, discounts for bulk purchases.

Use them for the man-lift. Had to have a detailed compare that resulted in purchasing.

We have many of the same latches. And yes the gates get chained as well. The last gates I put up, I skipped the latches and just used a chain. I use these bucket hangers from TSC to secure one end of the chain, the other end gets lag screwed into the post through one of the mounting holes.

my morning sure did not go as planned.
started off by firing my landscaper for dishonesty.
This all started yesterday when I found the remains of a destroyed bush
behind my garden shed, one I had planted this spring along with a matching shrub.
it was beat down to a woody frazzle, looks like someone realized they had screwed up and then tried to
destroy the evidence.
ok, we all get to screw up.
all I expected was a call back that night from the boss, a week ago.
never got the call.

I see a guy in my back yard this morning and it's the landscaper boss reacting to my email yesterday when
I sent him a pic of the destroyed plant and asked him if he had been told by his worker.
I asked him again when I saw him this morning. He admitted he had. So his worker tries to hide the damage and the
boss is a hider too.

I told the boss his men get to make mistakes and that wasn't the reason
I was so upset. The upset comes from dishonesty, knowing you screwed up and not fessing up for it.
I told him the dead plant didn't get him fired, but his personal dishonesty for waiting a week and not telling me.
He walked off not saying a word with his head hung low. I followed up with a page long letter to him
confirming why our business was terminated and hoped he learned something from this.

and then i had to go out and weedeat, trim and mow my place knowing my help had now disappeared
oh well

the unpleasantry of which was nicely erased by an envelope in the mail from treasurer of NC sending me a check for 970 bucks
likely for overpaid taxes never returned to me. (y) (y)

need to go out and pick more tomatoes.
time to chop some up for my freezer.

David, I think you've figured out how to make every day
a Happy Hour. Choice of town or home...
a marvelous accomplishment
I'm sure you can thank the brilliant idea
of getting your dear wife her own tractor.
visions of driving down the beach together, each
pulling a beach rake, stopping to watch the sun go down over the Pacific.
and a big cooler of rum for the dumb.
with three giant dogs in the pillow lined FEL bucket.
