I have Ménière's disease of the inner ear. Had a shunt put in my right ear back in 1992-3 at the Shea Clinic in Memphis. I've been seeing that surgeon's son now for hearing loss. After getting home and thinking about what I've heard from other patients about at the clinic I think it may be related to the inner ear problem. Though the fact that my skin turned grey and I had sweat dripping off me is not consistent with that problem. Anyway, I scared myself, my family, two very experienced nurses, and the congregation at the church.

Yikes! That's an event in anybody's book. I'm sorry that you are going through this.

I'm not a doc, but that doesn't sound like something I'd sit around with. Clean bill of health at the ER notwithstanding, it seems pretty clear that however you got into the fix, a fair number of folks thought it was pretty serious.

I hope that you can have a thorough health workup soon, and that a fix can be found.

Just something to noodle on, but at least some forms of Meniere's are apparently correlated to immune dysfunctions of various sorts;

It might be worth looking around for other immune issues (e.g. Mast cells, allergies, IBS) to see if there might be something that might help keep your health more stable.

All the best, Peter

My friend has Meniere's in both ears and until she went to the Shea Clinic was in pretty bad shape.

She had 3 surgery's over 3 days and has improved to the point she can function pretty good, but still has some dizzy spells.

Glad you found out about the Shea Clinic seems as if this is not a well known condition.

The guy who I'm seeing is a fourth generation ear surgeon. His great grandfather started the clinic. He was in the operating room watching his dad perform surgeries at age 14.

I've had the 3-day treatment at least four times now. Put you to sleep, stick a needle thru your eardrum and inject steroids and other drugs. Then you must lay without moving or talking for three hours after you come out from the anesthesia. Do this three days in a row. Not fun.

Going to see another cardiologist at a larger hospital next Monday. All the tests done Monday showed no problem but going there to make sure.

Wife and I still getting calls/texts about the event. I didn't know that many people knew me.

I know someone with that disease, but you certainly describe different systems. They have found that low sodium keeps it at bay. Their systems are just very quick onset of debilitating migraines and feeling sick to their stomach. If they get that they are out of commission for several hours.

I too have a long time friend with this disease. He has motion problems that
make him sick to the stomach, so no more boating or flights. Headaches etc. Watching his
salt intake and keeping it super low helps. Mrs Dash seasonings when eating at
home and salads when eating out.
Menieres is often missed/overlooked or misdiagnosed. Good luck sir.
