How could Artificial Intelligence become dangerous?

3-D printing, complete builds from the ground up. An example of pre-programmed robotics building stuff.

AI is pushing robotics to another level. They work hand in hand.

AI may push humans to another level too, or not. Remains to be seen.

Building the mechanics of a robot that can match or exceed human physical capabilities seems less amazing to me than the programming aspects of AI.

It doesn't seem that far-fetched to have a robot that could lay bricks, shingle a roof, or do some of the disgusting and mundane work in a nursing home.

I suspect that this won't be a financially practical option in my lifetime, but who knows.

US population 2012 to 2024 grew over 7%, so you can forecast it doubling every 10 years at that rate.
yes it's down from 9%, but it's still massive exponential growth in the US

But what percentage of that is illegal immigrants? We are now mass deporting as you well know. We may see those number cut down even more. Combine that with low birth rates and I could easily see full employment in this country-even with AI eliminating lots of clerical and managerial jobs.
So what happens when AI automation is put in everywhere?
What happens to the population that no longer works?

I would guess many will get jobs in the energy sector as that is going to grow massively. Those are great paying skilled wage jobs.
I know this kind of leap has happened before from pre to post industrial.
From manual devices to computers.

From manual labor to build cars to full robot automation.

I don't know of any plumbers, electricians, HVAC or others that have left the country recently, unless they were going on vacation.

And many labor organizations are desperate for plumbers, electricians, etc. They are paying sign up bonuses and paying for training.

Plumbers and electricians make a good living around here. There’s no reliance on illegal aliens

Electrical work, plumbing, finishing off the dry wall and installation of sports equipment are all behind schedule.
Robertson said his company is facing potentially $84,000 in extra costs for the delays, under a "liquidated damages" clause of $4,000 for every day the project runs beyond its November 1 deadline.

Tim Harrison, whose company is building the recreation center, said he cannot easily replace construction workers born in Mexico and Central America with native-born Americans, because most do not have the skills.

Come on pup,

You know the reason for that is because for decades, this country has allowed illegal immigrants, who generally work for lower wages, to take those jobs.

Now if they go away, wages will increase, and more younger American citizens will take those jobs.

Seeing the light yet???

I have a 20 yr old friend who just took a union commercial electricians job. No illegals are allowed to be in this position. It starts at $78,000 per year plus luxury level benefits.

Thats the way these jobs could be for all Americans if the illegals would just leave.

Bah…. nonsense. No robot could be set up to lay bricks. Thats a hand labor job that has existed for 10,000 years and will continue that way.

Let’s not get too scared-weenie alarmist.
