Guess which state has the most people killed by alligators?

Louisiana has the most alligators but thanks to the large supply of nutrias that we have for them to feed on, they aren't as vicious as some in other states. Today they announced that a handicapped 15 year old boy in diapers, who lived on the edge of the swamps, escaped from his house through his bedroom window and disappeared. After a large 12 day search, the Cajun Navy spotted his body using a drone. His autopsy shows an alligator killed him. Despite all our alligators, he was only the second victim here in the last 10 years.

Most people know that the highest number of kills are in Florida which has the 2nd most alligators with 10 people killed in the last 10 years. But, surprisingly, the state with the second most people killed is South Carolina with 8 kills in the last 10 years.
Since I have always spent a lot of time in the swamps, I am glad that our alligators are well fed and not as ferocious as those in other states.

Yeah, not the best advertisement for the state, but in reality, if you stay out of their domain, you don't see them very often.

When I think of Westwego, I remember running loads of sugar out of South Florida to a warehouse in Westwego. One day while making a delivery in Westwego, my Bride asked me where I was at. I told her I was just south of the Mississippi River, south of New Orleans. She told me that if I were, I would be in the Gulf. I told her to look it up on a map, which She did and realized, yep...I was south of New Orleans and also South of the Mississippi River.

Same problem up north with moose and people or animals in general and people.

Most of the gator deaths in South Carolina occur in Beaufort and Jasper Counties where there are large populations of folks who moved to retirement communities. Mostly old folks who moved to Hilton Head Island, Bluffton and other retirement communities.

I recall one death involved a lady who wanted to feed an gator a marshmallow.

I guess big city folks associate wildlife with Bambi and Thumper.
