1845 problem

   / 1845 problem #41
It just dawned on me that some Deutz engines have an external solenoid that opens the fuel flow via a spring and rod connected to a spring shut lever on the injection pump. If that's the case here, the solenoid needs adjusted so it can fully retract. Is that the case here or is the shut off solenoid bolted directly to the injection pump?
The more recent versions of the Deutz engines (1011, 2011 series) used on Power-Tracs have solenoids with internal engagement of the fuel shutoff, and no adjustment needed or possible.

All the best, Peter

I would get a V lightbulb and put it across that circuit that has the power and while the unit is grounded out somewherein the circuit the lightbulb will stay lit. Go along the circuit disconnecting individual items on that circuit until the light goes out when the light goes out, you found your problem. If you don’t have your wiring diagram for your unit, you can call Terry and he should email you a copy of the wiring diagram for your unit.

Found a PT1845 wiring diagram online. This appears to be a combination diagram from several previous versions that coxontools created. Posted as a new thread. Might help you?

Got a new wiring diagram from Terry yesterday and it is about the same as the one I had that was in the owners manual except the one of the rear wiring which was dated 2009 and my machine is a 1995 I guess they changed the wiring in the rear part of the machine. Terry and I discussed several different things to try but still kicks circuit breaker in about 25 seconds . Terry and I both wonder if it might be the new fuel shut off solenoid or wiring harness or plug , as I never had any problem till I installed the new one along with the wiring harness. Have checked all wires I can find and no signs of bare wires touching anything

That sounds like an easy test. Have you tried just disconnecting those two individually? E.g. the fuel solenoid plug, and then the engine harness connector?

Did you get a two wire or a three wire solenoid?

All the best,

Peter

I have not tried either I didn't think about doing that and the fuel shutoff is 2 wire.
