This week's work was a 10 acre bush hogging job, spreading 18 yards of limerock over new culvert for an additional driveway for a customer and spreading 4 dump truck loads of sandy clay mix under a 60x40 pole barn

They are pretty simple to build, there are a couple of tricks that I have learned on my own and helping others build their's that can save you a lot of frustration, let me know when you are ready and we will talk. Charlie.

Did several limerock jobs this week, went to a town about 45 minutes from where I live and bought a baler monitor from a farmer who's Vermeer baler burnt, so I would have a spare, came home and loaded out a 20 roll load of hay and finally got started cutting late this afternoon and was able to finish a little while before dark, hope everyone has a great weekend. I spread 2 loads of limerock as well last week, but just on my driveway. My tendency to be a cheap butt, once again, kinda bit me. I wheeled the drive, ran the numbers, and came up with 50-56 tons. But then the cheapness came in and said, I think you can stretch 2 loads...

The only bad thing about spreading limerock to thin is that it still looks good when you finish but doesn't last or hold up to the traffic like it does when you lay down a nice 4+ inch base, but I totally understand trying to make what you have work, and it's still the most affordable driveway solution, as asphalt millings have become outrageously priced.

Just paid $82/yd for recycled asphalt. It does make a nice driveway but cost is becoming a factor. The yard owner in Tyler the plant on the south side of Dallas where he gets the material is closing, so he will be getting it from a plant on the north side of Dallas further away. When that happens, the price will go up.

So, on millings/RAP/whatever you call it;
at $1200/18 tons; or as you said, $80-85 per CY; there are better options. You can do about 72 square yards, or about $17/sy in millings

So, if you want; 600#/sy limerock (that's right about 6" compacted), is about $25-35/ton delivered (depending on distance of coarse). We are 60 sy for $540, or about $9/sy in material. We then can do 135#/sy of asphalt; (1.25"); or about another $15/sy. Material speaking; 6" rock and 1.25" asphalt, just isn't much more than millings $24 vs $17.

BTW, we can get prices even lower with 6" of sand-clay/ball field clay, and double application chip seal.
