I have a Kioti DK6010SE and I am looking for a post hole digger. I've seen the typical ones that attach to the 3pt hitch but I've also seen post hole diggers like the Digga that attaches to bucket. I have an Everything Attachments Wicked bucket and a 3rd function kit for my grapple. Are the ones that attach to the bucket and better than the ones used on the 3pt hitch? Does anyone have a recommendation for one? I'm looking at digging holes predominantly for fencing but would like the option to dig larger holes when needed. Also not I am in New England. We got lots of rocks!

Having an hydraulic driven post hole digger brings up a lot of great advantages.

Being hydraulic, means you can reverse the rotation. So if it gets stuck, you can simply reverse it out.

Then, it's mounted to the loader, this means you can provide down pressure on harder to dig ground.

It's also much easier to attach to the tractor versus the 3pt ones.

A good option, if you can do a bit of fabrication, is to get those augers for the Chinese mini excavators. Those are cheap units but should work very well with the flow the tractor can provide. It does need a mount fabricated to fit the tractor though.

If not that route, you can get ones already ready to fit your tractor. I'm sure someone will suggest a couple brands to look at.

I switched from a 3 point auger to a ssqa loader mount auger and the difference is night and day. As PTSG states, the down pressure and reversing are the big pluses.
Hydraulic augers do cost more, but worth every penny if you're doing a lot of holes with it (imho). Mine is a Land Pride SA20 with the low flow motor.

Do you happen to have any links to the Chinese augers?

It might be worth checking to make sure your 3rd function kit is rated for continuous flow and also if it will flow at the same rate as the rear remotes on your tractor.

If not, you can just run hydraulic lines from you rear remote to the auger up front.

What is your tractors GPM? You'll want to match that to the auger motor.

I believe it is around 16.9. Not sure about continuous flow to the 3rd function though. Need to do a little research on that one.

I bought mine off the local farm equipment auction. It was a new China unit, 3 augers. Bought a SS adapter plate for my global attach FEL. Paid 1200 bucks for the digger and 300 bucks or so for the adapter plate. I love mine. They have them on these auctions all the time for 1000 to 1500 bucks, 3 augers and all crated up nicely.

Hmmm. I got to find one of those auctions around me. Is there a site you use?

No. They are local to me. One is Kingstree Auction Company and one is Nichols Auction. Both in SC. They both have online bidding and a couple of auctions a year.

FWIW my tractor is quoted at 17.9 GPM and when I called Danuser, they told me I would lose a bit of that to the power steering. They recommended an EP1020 (10-20 GPM) for my tractor.

I couldn't get a good deal on 1020 anywhere, so decided to get a MTL unit at 14-36 GPM. I'm still waiting on it and the WR long 3rd function to ship, so no idea how well it works.

For sure you want to make sure your third function is rated for continuous flow. Or just run hoses from one of the rear remotes.
