Agco Allis SAME parts

OK, I did some checking for you...

First off, there are no "kits", you have to buy what you need part by part, and you will not find all the parts coming from one place, they will have to come from several places, BUT, I know a guy that can get the parts and is willing to help you. Here's the thing, just the parts to do a complete over haul will cost over 5 thousand dollars.

I'd suggest unless it's going through a LOT of oil, you just run it as is. Second choice is to just do the top end and that still won't be cheeep.

If you still want to go through the engine, let me know and I'll put in contact with the guy I know.

I had a high houred SAME one time that smoked and burned oil, I just ran it, and for several years, then I sold it to a friend, and today, it still starts easy and just keeps going and going with good power.

Another alternative is to find a used engine.
I wouldn’t even waste my time looking until a simple compression test is done.

This is an air cooled engine.

What usually happens is people don't fix oil leaks which will run down the fins on the liners, eventually clogging it with dust and debris. Then the cylinder gets too hot and eventually cracks the rings.

Being an air cooled engine, you can simply drop a new piston and liner in place and it's good to go.

It's a fairly common engine and parts shouldn't be hard to find.

Be careful how quickly you assume oil consumption means complete overhaul.
Might need something simpler like valve guide seals.

You don’t need any parts to do a compression test. Thats what I’d be doing first.
Thanks for the feedback. Not a diesel mechanic, but what would a good or maybe bad compression be on a diesel.

Thanks ptsg. that was my impression but I have tried duetz and agco and just cant find parts. I am able to find the part #s on the Agco site but cannot find where to purchase them. I love the tractor and overall the tractor is in great shape except its thirsty for oil.

I will see if I can get a compression test done and follow up. Appreciate the help and may still take you up on your resource.

Just wanted to follow up on the thread. I sent the tractor to my local diesel shop and unfortunately as thought they are recommending an overhaul. Unfortunately they are not able to find any aftermarket parts. The piston kits are running 2700 alone so the complete is looking to be around 8 to 10k.
With the parts issues and the overall cost I believe I am just going to take the loss and replace the tractor. I appreciate all the feedback from everyone on here.
