Most economical way to move tractor to dealer

Roading a tractor to the dealership seems like such an enjoyable time compared to trailering.

I'm not too far from my dealer, 15-20 minutes away by truck, but my obese little Kioti only makes 9 MPH in high, on flat ground.

For OP, however, I would third the local rollback option. Unless they have something larger than the SCUT/CUT's common on here.

Someone's large AGCO machines wouldn't fit on the Freightliner M2 I had the joy of driving for a few months.

Only my small challenger would fit on my GN. The others are too wide (requires a special permit)

Don’t forget the 5th chain & binder for the loader.
From start to finish, it takes me 45 minutes to hook up the gooseneck and chain a tractor down.
In 45 minutes, I’m 25 miles down the road in the tractor.

Anything over an hour’s drive and I’ll load it on the trailer.

There isn’t a road in MY area where you run 60MPH pulling a trailer. I trailer 75 loads of hay a year and I average about 40MPH.

I live in hilly & old school “coastal” PA, where driving is misery. You live in the flatlands of Florida, where the driving is actually a pleasure.
One of the positives of living in the flatlands lol.

Here’s a time when I had to load the small Challenger up.

Ok. This might be a little odd. I don't own a pickup or trailer yet and I need to get my tractor to the dealer. They used to pick it up and drop it off for $200 but they informed me they've been losing a bunch of money and have bumped up the fee to $450. Besides 'knowing someone' that I can bribe with a steak dinner what other options are there? I've found truck rentals for $90/day and a trailer rental for $75/day. That comes out cheaper but there is the time picking up both, at two different locations for both the tow there and back, and the drive time to and from the dealer.
Like others have said, a rollback could do it. I had one bring my IH2500b to my home in late fall and back out to the property in the spring. But back then it was $40 a trip. 🤣

Definitely worth checking out.

FWIW, From the OP's little profile under his avatar in the sidebar next to his posts, his tractor is a Kioti DK6010SE HSA, which apparently (just ask google...) weighs on the order of 4500 to 5000 pounds...

Is it possible to flat tow a tractor with engine trouble? I've never seen it done on the road, but for some tractors where the range selector has neutral, I would think that any bearings in the transmission that needs hydraulic pressure, wouldn't be spinning?
If you keep it under 20-25mph a pickup should have no trouble pulling and stopping its own weight behind it safely. Bolt on a flat towing hitch where the grill guard goes? And take off the loader.
I guess you would probably want to lock the steering straight as I don't think there is any self centering geometry on a front axle.
Sounds like a PITA actually! :ROFLMAO:

I dunno, on a busy road, a bunch of mad drivers trying to frantically get around you would not be enjoyable at all. And most of us CUT owners are going 10-14mph, max.

Trailering is definitely a chore and a risk, but it's good to keep your skills flexed periodically, I feel.

So... Ya'll are saying if I needed to I could put my gear drive DK45se into neutral and tow it for a distance. Never thought you could get away with that. I could see in a pinch though, maybe. Nah... I think I'd call a rollback.
