Oh, don't worry ... This isn't the first time somebody told me I was crazy in the head for just having a big lawn (my words, not them!)

When I told my one neighbor that had done the hay for me 2 of the 3 years that I was out, he even suggested doing it without me doing anything (he didn't want to go halves with me on the fertilizer ) and he would just cut it ... But I've seen his weedy thorny fields, not what I want on my land, even my brother said I should let it out for hay or grazing ...

I bought this place mostly for my own sanctuary, a place that I can enjoy by myself, doing what I like ... Some people thought it was crazy I planted over 90 trees in the nice fields I "rescued" ...

But it's my time and money, and makes me happy 😊

I'd much rather "lose money" on maintaining a big lawn and big lawnmower, than feeding the neighbors cows ... I really don't want people coming on my property to hay, or buy hay, or take care of there livestock ... There is a reason for the sign on my gate pictured before ...

Oh, she's been a good neighbor otherwise, she doesn't do any haying, but has 40+ acres on the other side of the road, she just buys hay for her critters ... Apparently she did the same thing to the other neighbor who did the haying for me 2 years when he was just getting started with haying, didn't buy from him either, but had it trucked in instead ... Doesn't make sense to me ... But she's like others, wouldn't want to pay my premium price either, as her cows will/do eat the weeds in her fields!

So I ended up selling my weed free nutritional hay for the same price as if it was the weedy junk to the guy who hayed it for me ... his cows ate good!

I have no use for the hay, nor place to store it out of the way, or time to deal with finding a customer which would have to load it themselves.

I wish I never listened to her about the hayfield being "Productive " and just went with my original plan of a big lawn ... Although I've learned a lot about growing hay, and the difficulties of it and the weather, it a hard life, and if you raise critters, it's probably best to do it yourself, guy out back was already feeding hay, as no grass to graze ... Drought!

There’s always a cost to happiness…….You be you! Enjoy what you have and how you take care of it. When you crawl off that machine at the end of a day shredding, gaze at that field, and say “Wow, that looks great”, that’s PRIDE.

I envy those who find cheaper ways to be happy, like relaxing on the back deck with a drink. I see the OP shares an affliction common to many of us, finding some of the more expensive paths to happiness. :p

Hey, at least it’s not golf!

Dead. Posted 4 days ago, but I'm a little confused by initial claims he was on a tractor, and this story reporting it occurring in a camp ground.

Were two "elderly" men attacked by bears in Arkansas, in the same week?

Yes, crazy happens in more than just people! 😅

Be curious if they both had the same bear problem, although the second guy, apparently was taking pictures of it, so maybe was too close to the bear?

Like some people want to go pet the "fuzzy cows"! (Buffalo!)

Yeah ... But my back deck is 12' X 80 long, and requires upkeep $ ... I don't drink, but that stuff looks expensive too ... My own well water is my choice, except for my first cup of the day is coffee ...

It's only money ... I'm debt free and no children to leave it too ...

And who on a tractor forum really would hold it against another to have more than just one tractor? 🚜 🚜
