62F mostly cloudy 5mph wind shaking leaves free.

Been good day for outside getting this and that done.
Learn from years back put rear tire chains on tractor 1 week before Halloween if not may get trick instead of treat  putting tire chains on Kubota can be tribe test of courage  fussing with last tire chains 2 on lookers show up and 1 giving me advice  Chic Dees can be comical at time.

🤞 NY Giants are doing well :) 🤞

Plans for the evening dinner deck enjoy smooth cigar wait for critters, might share homemade apple pie with French vanilla ice before pillow time.

Enjoy your evening all.

I'm still holding off on tire chains and haven't even bought the new snow tires yet. Probably should get them ordered. And call for the years fuel delivery.

David, animals don't know 'modesty'. One of my tom cats many years ago knocked up one of the queens on top of the D-I-Ls foot. lol
I still have one of the kittens, she is the oldest cat we've got.
That was when I decided that if any animal with a leg in each corner was going to live in this house it would be fixed.

David, nice job! That new tractor and flail looks to be the ticket!

A good day was had working on the building. Framing is officially complete, ready for siding, and then the roof. We decided that it wasn't worth the risk of any high winds messing with the roof. The siding will reinforce the lateral forces.

Now it's time for a few Ibuprofen and massage the knee. I definitely made some nerves angry.

55F and cloudy @ 19:30, calling for a low of 43F overnight. Around 0.5" of rain so far, another round due in 15 minutes.

The smaller Mammoth Gold pumpkin, 8 lbs 8 oz:

IMG_3889 copy.jpg

Cut into wedges andthen baked in the oven for around an hour. Then processed in the Cuisinart.

Now simmering on the stove to reduce the water content a little.

Managed to get a fairly good harvest of seeds out of it:

IMG_3890 copy.jpg

Those are now spread out on a cookie sheet on top of the 'fridge to dry.

Woman (who really wasn't really involved) didn't want to "mess with" doing more ... so we held off on doing the second larger one ... ;)

Pulled out the bathroom scale for the larger one though, it looks to weigh around 20 lbs.

Woman did go ahead and make a couple of loaves of pumpkin bread using a can of Libby's which had a "Best By" date of November 2025.

She's warming up some spaghetti for dinner now, almost time to eat ... :)

Good (Monday) morning. Overnight Low of 8.7C and it's presently 20.6C, mostly sunny with a very strong wind. There was 2.0mm in the gauge @0900.

What with this wind, which should calm down this evening, there's not much going on here. I do have my monthly Parish Council meeting at 1700.

The reminders of making Winter preps (wood 'in', chains mounted on the tractor, etc...) are nudging me to soon order my wood IOT cure over the Summer. I'll probably do that next week.

So, that's about it. Take care all.

Gosh, that sure looks as if you have a golf course going there! Is there a backstory to the swales and terraces?

What is the relatively coarse grass that your mower seemed to sail through?

Congratulations on the new mower and tractor!

All the best, Peter
Well, we are on the side of a mountain, Mauna Kea. Pretty much the land is as it was in the sugar plantation days. Some of the berms had to do with water flow, some just sides of the cane roads.
That coarse grass is Guinea grass. Deep rooted, will mound, very hard to get rid of.

Thanks

   / Good morning!!!! #212,920
good Monday morning all
some continuing light rain this morning but less than a tenth of an inch, not going to help much.

broke frame of my reading glasses, not sure if fixable, headed to eyeglass place this morning.

I think David has the toughest mowing conditions of any of us; that guinea grass looks difficult to digest

not sure how much trouble I'll get into today, nothing on the calendar
which means likely I'll work on the leaf vac today. Need to also test run the generator and I guess should run
the snowblower too. I bought some Stabil Marine to dose the snowblower tank again, really think I should drain the tank
and start over with fresh fuel. Fuel injection really helps but this is ethanol fuel and will gunk up anything
