I remember my grandma canning chickens. She also made pressed chicken with gelatin. It wasn't too bad in a sandwich. I remember when I was about 12 years old she asked me to help butcher a couple of chickens and she handed me an axe that I used while she held the chicken. She had a couple of nails in a stump spaced to hold the chicken's head while I removed it with the axe.
Another item we ate quite a bit of 60 years ago was cornmeal mush. I got kind of tired of that after a while.
I used to eat fried corn meal mush with butter and honey at my grandparents house. I liked it but haven’t had any in many years. I need to make some.

I'll second that on mayonnaise. I'm OK with potato salad as long as it doesn't have hard boiled egg in it. My wife will put turmeric in it, which will give it a yellow color, is that what you mean?
Turmeric is good but the yellow potato salad has, I believe, mustard. (Southern Style.) It may have mayonnaise too, but I can't taste it so I'm good with that. I buy it premade in small containers in the deli isle of the grocery store. It's right next to the pork Tamales, yum.

I'm not a big fan of raw onions. I can tolerate cooked ones... sometimes.

On the other hand, raw coconut is good, but I dislike dried coconut, or coconut oil.

When Vidalia's first came out they were mild and sweet.
I used to make raw onion sandwiches.
Now they're no sweeter than cooking onion.
I do use lots of green onions in salads etc.
Love the smell of bacon and onions frying together.

I can see that the gloves stop the heat while processing them. LOL
I rubbed my eye once after cooking with them, never, ever again!
My 2 year old son found a chili that dropped on hte floor. He picked it up and bit it before my wife realized. It took a good 45 minutes to calm him down.

I wonder if it's regular onions that have gotten sweeter over the years. They don't seem as "onion-y" as they did in the past.

It's a known fact that peeling/slicing onions make many peoples' eyes water, with me they make me sneeze. Anyone else affected that way? It's rare for them to make my eyes water though.

My brother traveled to 59 countries 50 years ago in his hippie days after college. One country, Tibet I think, he said live monkeys were brought to the table in a wooden box, just their head sticking out. The skull had been pre-cut in a circle. With a fork you flip that off then eat the monkey"s brains as it's looking at you.

Do I win anything?

Organ meat. Liver, kidneys, heart. Not my thing.

Mmmm... the extra Chicken pieces that are the first thing off of the barbecue. At least the hearts, livers, and perhaps gizzards.

What about tongue? Boiled it becomes very tender.

I have always enjoyed a tongue sandwich.

That just doesn't trip my trigger.

I love all types of game meat and seafood, but an identifiable body organ just isn't one of them.
We are not all the same . . . (y)

I'm not a food snob, so I could probably be enticed to try organ meat. But on the surface, it's not something I'm thrilled to try.

Went to a real Brazilian place and ordered 2 combination plates, don't speak Portuguese so kinda guessing.
Some of it was fantastic, though they use a lot of salt.
A few bits we figured out what they were, tried them and definitely know we don't need to ever try to eat those again if possible :)
Tongue, brains, liver , tripe all from my childhood, nothing unused.
If I never see or smell tripe again, I'll be quite happy.
Liver, slathered in ketchup , I can deal with, just don't need to.
Brains, well it's ok, would not have again unless starving.
Tongue cooked right in a sandwich with good mustard is pretty decent/

Little fiddly bits would be great to take home to feed the dog,

So you don't like it because you haven't tasted it. Or you have tasted it in something like stuffing, and just didn't know it.

Liver has a unique taste and texture. Perhaps not for everyone. "Gamey"? It is supposed to be good in nutrients, but at least some types of liver should be moderated.
Heart is perhaps very meaty. Not bad... try it.
Gizzard inevitably is a bit tough, at least if barbecued.
Somehow I haven't encountered Rocky Mountain Oysters. But, I'd at least try them sometime.

I've tried Mexican "Offal". Truthfully I couldn't tell a difference from any other meat. It has popped up with sports due to a naturally occurring steroid in the Offal.

One of the unique things about international travel. Sometimes the food is a bit of a mystery. Especially street food.

Hmmm...

Don't drink the water in Egypt!!!

I've had beef and chicken liver and didn't care for the strong taste. I've had kidney, but didn't like the texture. I haven't had heart or tripe.

I've also had Rocky Mountain oysters. They're like incredibly tender veal.
