Holzfforma G366 pro

My "clown saw" (Joncutter 2511 with the 12" bar) which I bought for my Virginia home does pretty well for what it was designed for. However with some trees due to come down in Virginia it needed a big brother and my JD CS62, Stihl 660, and Stihl 088 are all in Mississippi and I'm tired of lugging them back and forth. So once I saw the capabilities of the "old G366" I decided to get one. Then the G366 Pro popped up for sale and I decided to get one from Hockfire Saws and beat any potential tariff increases.
Well all arrived today and it looks good.

I'm pretty pleased with it.

Pro one is a open port cylinder like the newer overseas oem 361's.

I like the air filter update they did to them on the Farmertec too.

Is there a extra muffler exit on the pro version mufflers? Thats the only thing the older ones needed OEM and clone. Muffler modded. They are so stuffed up inside.

I had a much older blue G366 regular one they sold way back. Ran just like my oem 361. Both were closed ports back then.

Mine even oiled a 32" bar with 28" buried better then my oem one. But that too can be hit and miss on afm oilers.

Keeping an eye on this thread. Tarriffs have made Stihl Pro saws unaffordable to the everyday property maintenance contractor.

I have 3 of them, and always believed in buying the best, but it’s time to start lookin at alternatives.

661 was $1400, now its like $1850. Screw that

I bought the Joncutter and the pro saw back in the summer, but haven't run them yet. Waiting for snake season to end before I set foot in the woods.

661 was $1400, now its like $1850. Screw that

I found out a long time ago chainsaws were changin when the EPA started to mandate emissions. The old reliable true two stroke motors were getting replaced with the stratified motors and metered fueling.

I purchased all the pre-EPA saws I could find, even a lot of used ones.

The older stuff is better. The problem now is a lot of people know this and either ask stupid money for the old stuff, or it's clapped out.

For example this saw, A poulan Pro 655, which is 99CC. It is in the same class as the 661. It's basically a Pioneer P65. This saw is a mid 80's hot rod from the factory. It's reed valve intaked which allows for a boost port where the intake usually is. This thing is a man's saw and will out cut a 661 all day, every day. There is so much torque and pull in this saw, it's absolutely wonderful and fun to run. I think the guy wanted 700, and I paid it happily.

If you put some time in and educate yourself, there are good deals for very good saws that come along.

Nice, but a saw like that is not readily available in daily running condition, parts are rare, and it’s not practical to run in a business.

Neat saw though, my dad had Poulan saws like that and we ran them in a firewood business we ran on the side. I probably cut 20 tractor trailer loads of logs like that between the age of 13 and 20.

If you say you have a lot of those, send me a runner, and I’ll give you a fair price. Put a 24” bar on mine….

Which one...these are my 100cc saws. Now all these are considered by all accounts to be the best of the best.
