I had a conversation with a younger generation folk about farmers having multiples of tools. That person just couldn’t comprehend why one would have 5 tape measures, multiple hammers, multiple sets of screwdrivers, etc.
One is none and two is one

Lets see tape measures, one in each tractor, one in each vehicle, one in each tool box, one in the shop, one in the garage, one in the kitchen drawer, one in the basement.
And I still can't grab one half the time I want one.
So never enough :)

I am firmly convinced that The Borrowers have moved into my abode. That is the only rational I can come up with on the disappearance of items.

Yes and we would all be set if we could only live to be 300 y.o.!
One day (20 years?) there's going to be a big auction here. "OK...here have 138 screwdrivers. Do I hear $20?".
Lord only knows how many wheelbarrow loads of bolts & screws I have. Always after 90 minutes or so..."Honey, I'm going to Ace!".
Recently I needed white silicone caulk. I finally found a dozen or so tubes...everything but white and all of then stiff as a weddin' dick.

Makes me feel like some of you are my long lost brothers. Today I bought another Klein 11(or whatever the count is) in-one screwdriver. With 4 now there's one in most of the spots where they're needed. They will never replace the old single size screwdrivers for some applications such as reaching a deep inset screw, but they're really handy. One thing I've noticed is the bits are much more durable than most of the screwdrivers I've owned. Back when I was working with tools in the field my favorites were Vaco and SK but also used Craftsman. Most of the slotted screwdrivers were OK but all of the #2 Phillips were quick to wear until the black oxide came along.

Tape measures are plentiful around here - TILL YOU NEED ONE. They are in the sheds, the welding table, basement junk drawer in the kitchen, tool boxes, etc. About a week ago a 30' DeWalt came along back from a trip to the box store and Sweet Pea insisted on giving me an early Christmas present. I unwrapped a cute Craftsman 6 footer on a keychain. I had a freebie HF 6 footer so figured cool, now there's an extra for the map pocket. Before getting the present completely unwrapped she said "Now I can have your old one so we each have one".

Agree, just bought another Torx bit set, to add to the who knows how many I have.
Wrenches on the Tractor, in my house garage, in my external garage.
Multiples of plumbing supplies, ratchets, tow ropes, tool boxes, pruning tools, chainsaw blades and chainsaws.

I don't have all the screws and hardware I used to have, lost in all the moves.
So I buy small kits to have a few sizes as spares, but with cars, tractors and other power equipment, never seem to have the right size, so a few more bolts/screws/nuts go into the box since I buy a few of each when I need one.

I even have 5 multi-meters, because when I need one, it better be somewhat close.
and don't even get me started on the cable collection.

Reading glasses. I don't even know how many I got but they all end up in one place somehow, In the barn or in the house or in the car...anyway half the time I can't find a pair when I need them. And I needed them a lot. So I went to the optometrist and bought a pair of glasses I can put on when I wake up and take off when I go to bed. Now, I know where the dam things are.

Tell us where they are in a week please, update required :)
I have lost so many that I think I keep the eyeglass places in business.
