MF 202 Workbull
New owner this year of a 1962 MF 202 workbull with a front loader. Purchased it this summer and haven't tracked down an owners or repair manual. Mine has the foot pedal forward reverse transmission, and is the 3-cyl perkins diesel.

Couple of questions right now concerning the hydraulics of the loader. I've discovered a small leak in the front right hydraulic arm, just above where it attaches to the bucket. (marked green in photo - not my tractor, but exactly like it)

1. What would be the best hydraulic oil to use in the loader system? Fleet Farm near me has ISO 46, 32, etc... and also has Universal Trans-Hydraulic fluid.

2. Where do you fill the loader hydraulics? My best guess is there is large nut/opening on top of the fixed loader arm that is between the rear right wheel and the transmission. (marked red dot in the photo)

Any information/advice would be of great help. Tractor has been of great use this summer to move 80 tons of sand/soil to fill a pond and do some landscaping. Hoping to use it now for snow removal as winter is hitting as I type.

The cylinder isn't too hard to re-seal if you have the tools, and good mechanical skills. If the loader frame is used to hold hydraulic oil it is usually higher up on the loader frame (usually somewhere near the controls for the loader). You don't need to use a trans-hydraulic oil, just hydraulic oil that meets MF Spec M1110. For cold weather use a lighter weight hydraulic oil.

Hmm, don't have the tools for a Cylinder rebuild. Just watched a walkthru video on doing that. Seems pretty straightforward, but I don't have the tools to get that done. Maybe my mechanic friend could help later.

On the reservoir issue, I do think the lower stationary arm of the frame is where I put in the fluid. There are only two accesses into the loader frame. I've photographed them both, and after opening them the lower one is almost full of thick yellow fluid.

The other opening up top near the controls is not air tight and I don't see anything in it. Not sure what it is...

The upper one is breather, it also depends on what brand, and the model number the loader itself is (it should be on a tag on the loader somewhere). If it's a MF loader it would either be a model 99, or model 102.

That looks like what I have and when you unscrew that breather from the frame, and if you're lucky, you'll find a dipstick on a chain for checking the level. My manual calls for good ole ATF (the red stuff).

I meant to add that I add the oil in the hole where the breather threads into.

I know that on the 32A loaders you fill from the breather hole. However I do not know about the old davis loaders.

I think you have a Massey 205, maybe a 203. As far as I know the 202 work Bulls were z134 gas engines. Those are sweet tractors.

The 203, and the 205 had diesels, the 202, and 204 had the Continental 4 cyl gasser.

Hi, I also have a MF202 Indutrial Workbull but a backhoe/loader. I tried to lift out too heavy a weight and the hydraulics started leaking. I m pretty sure it s the pump and I am trying to remove it to verify and repair. I ve removed the radiator cover and have access to the pump but I cant pull the spline end out to remove the pump. Doas anyone know what holds it in ? I would have thought a pin or clip but can t see anything
Any experience you have with these external front hydraulic pumps would greatly be appreciated!
Thanks
