3-Point Hitch Almost complete: 2 spool 3rd Function top-n-tilt for GC1710

Prince valve, surplus center top link. Still looking for a tilt ram. The two spool for now will drive my back blade swing and toplink. Need to do some hose management, finish out the mount to the ROPS, and order a few more fittings. The mount to the ROPS will be quickly removable for backhoe ops. I️ should have it finished out next wknd.

Installed and ready for snow, need to weld a few things, paint, some finishing touches, but it works, no leaks! The 2nd spool will angle the back blade for snow removal. I really needed the toplink because this back blade is so big I couldn't lift it high enough on my steep driveway to clear....fixed now! I'm making it a quick connect system on the ROPS so I can quickly remove, it will basically be a single hand grip 3/4 nut that holds it in place, the smaller bolt is just a locator "pin". I used 3/8 fittings on one spool and 1/2 fittings on the other just because of parts laying around...will come in handy if I wanted to test or power something I'll have options.

I have a manual thumb now, if I added a hydraulic ram I would put in an electronic valve that switched over via push button on the right side backhoe lever. Hold button down and lever controls thumb, release button, button controls curl.

FYI I love my thumb (after modification) but don’t think I’ll had hydro.

Actually I’m thinking of adding a 360 degree grapple attachment that would replace the bucket....just thoughts right now but it would be cool!

I did wear safety glasses when checking for leaks the first time I pressurized it.....

As for the ROPs, I think the integrity is still intact, the 2” holes the factory drills for the lights on the other hand are ridiculous....

Here's a very good grapple building thread. It's only the upper grapple claw and it attaches to the top of the loader bucket but the basic design could be adapted a full bucket replacing grapple. You may have already seen this, it's such a good thread that I thought it deserved a bump.

That is a good looking grapple. All these projects would be a lot easier and better if I had a CNC plasma cutter...last time I priced them they cost nearly as much as a tractor though.

Someone asked for parts list for my hydraulic rear remote build (two spool option). I will have to be quick as I'm short on time but here is a start (I do believe you can do this with any GC, but you'll need more hose and further understanding to do it with the non-backhoe versions as you'll have to plug into the loader spool. With the backhoe versions you just use the lines normally used for the back hoe.

This was the 2nd hydraulic ram which turns the blade (not shown in any pics, I will try and get some taken)). I bought this from Dalton Hydraulic.

This should get you started, in all I probably had $400 spent to have all this working. All the quick connects cost as much as the rams! If you want to same money and just need them on one attachment you could maybe bypass the quick attachments.

Here is a video of clearing snow with that blade, this was before the side to side tilt ram was in place.

This thing worked great all winter, I have since made it taller for big snows using sheetmetal roofing and some left over cedar (it isn't pretty but works good).


Last year I used horse mat as the protection, but this year I think I'm using a piece of Delrin or similar.

I exchanged PM’s with GC1710 several days ago, he mentioned he was traveling due to work and wouldn’t be able to log on here for awhile. He’s not ignoring us. About the hydraulics, I’m pretty sure that he used the existing backhoe circuit.

ok.... The problem I encounter is I can not find any information on how the BH hydraulic hookups up are implemented on the 1710 and 1720, unfortunately the 1705 and 1715 do not have these hydraulics implemented... The shop manual I have does a really good job of showing how FEL hydraulics (from valving to cylinders) operate but no mention on how hydraulics are plumbed on the 1710 or 1720 to get power to BH...Or in my case it would be probably be labeled as "power beyond"....

The frustration is that MF actually gives a part number for a power beyond kit, but local parts guy and corporate seem to be unable to supply the actual data about what it is (kit?) and how to connect it...
