Something I don't understand about applications of below 40hp tractors

It's all based on the need for instant gratification. As a child I lived on a 250 acre mixed farm. We had a Ford 9N, a much older Fordson Major (hand crank to start) and two horses. All the farm work got done, most of it by the little 9N. Plowing, discing, harrowing, cutting, seeding etc etc. If...

Today, would you buy an EV vehicle.

In a very practical sense, the Ford / GM EV trucks only exist on paper for anyone who is not already on a reservation list. Probably nothing for the next few years on the showroom floor at a somewhat reasonable cost. The $120K GM / Hummers are not an option for many. I now have a low miles L5P...

Are you "brand" person when it comes to your tractor?

Where I live there is a JD dealership with 9 stores. One is less than 5 minutes drive, full service, full stock and have dealt there since 2008. Case / Mahindra dealer across the road from the JD. New Holland maybe 10 minutes. Kubota, 10 - 12 minutes & Massey maybe 30 minutes. That said, the...

    Would You Loan It Out?

Since I don't know you at all I will restrain my comments. You barely know the guy. He never paid you last time. He thinks your rates are too high!!! How can $0.00 be too high? After all that you loan him the tiller. He still has your tiller. "My wife called me an idiot." Unless you are...

    Riding mower vs BX

I have a JD 3320 TLB. The MMM is 72" This would be heavier than BX. I found there were a number of areas (slopes / trees) that were inaccessible with the JD / MMM and therefore also had a Craftsman Lawn Tractor / Mower. Despite Turf tires on the JD after some years it became evident the lawn...

Will 10 Horsepower actually matter on the same size tractor?

One can always make an argument for more HP, but you need to realistically assess your needs, much more so than can be determined from your original question. 10HP in an identical tractor would likely only be evident with PTO work. If the 10HP is also in a larger frame, as you seem to suggest...

Chain hooks on Bucket or just use pallet forks? (For misc chain hoisting)

I did not read all the previous comments, so this may have been mentioned before. I have a 2" Trailer Receiver Tube welded to the middle of the top lip of my bucket. Allows the use of 2" receiver with chain hook welded on. Also allows use of 2" Receiver with ball size as required. Handy for...

Buying Advice Buying backhoe with the tractor upfront.

The size of the Branson will limit the size and utility of the BH, but if price is not a particular problem and depending on your real or intended use it is always handy to have a BH on hand rather than having to rent. I bought my JD 3320 with BH for a particular job at the time, but have found...

trailer without brakes - max weight

Depending on the year of your RAM truck, max payload in the bed is approx. ,1900# - 2,300# That should give you some idea of the stopping capacity the OEM feels is safe limit for the brakes. Whether weight is in the bed or on the trailer behind, the truck brakes still have to stop it all...

Need advice on 30 -40hp tractor purchase

I have had a 2007 JD 3320 Cab for some years now. It is used to clear maybe 300' gravel driveway + maybe 5,000 sq ft parking area. The 33xx series comes in IIRC approx 30 - 40+ hp versions. Not sure regarding current models. I have FEL with 5' bucket on front and 5' rear mounted 2-stage Snow...

    2WD GMC 2500HD

I have a 2018 2500HD Duramax. If the box is loaded with weight traction may be acceptable if on any thing but dry pavement. I have parked in my level driveway, with a packed snow covering and come back a few hours later to find in 2WD the truck will not even get out of the slight indentation...

Cheap ways to put a roof over equipment?

You can easily find interior / exterior dimensions online. If you need a bit extra interior clearance, take a look at the "Hi-Cube" version. Around here it is common to place two SeaCans 16' to 20' apart and build a roof across the span, resulting in three storage spaces, two of which are very...

X500 plow or snow pusher? Weights?

With the amount of snow you probably get in NB, I suspect, when you need it most this will not be a satisfactory solution. I used to have a Honda 6522 4x4 that weighed a lot more than an X500. For light fluffy snow - no problem, but heavy / wet - not the greatest. If you have the blade, give it...

    One Serious Pusher

Spotted this machine at the local JD store today & thought it might be of interest to some. JD 9420M with Degelman pusher. I'm personally not sure what this pusher is for, maybe snow, but most of the other large snow machines I see at this store usually have Horst snow pushers with hydraulic wings.
