Advice for Removing Diesel Injector Pump on 'Ford' 1910 Compact Tractor

To close out this thread, here's the Rest of the Story... Sent the pump to thepumpguysc, who had a devil of a time finding parts as well. His overseas supplier sold him the barrels and plungers needed, then cancelled and refunded the order without explanation. He searched for other suppliers...

Modified Mohawk B-5 Rotary Cutter - How to Return to Safe Use

Greetings! I picked up this Mohawk B-5 "Brave" rotary cutter at a farm near my home. I've already changed out the gearbox fluid and checked underneath to find the stump jumper and blades in surprisingly good condition. I don't think the upper link area is set up as it would have come from the...

Ford 1910 Timing Gear Cover Torque Specs

Well, After a through review, the bolt torque specs are not mentioned in the 1920 manual either. It describes the removal process in detail, then says the reinstall is the reverse, but jumps from "bolt the timing gear cover on" to referring to the crankshaft pulley and it's required torque...

Ford 1910 Timing Gear Cover Torque Specs

I'm aware. That's why I identified them as BOTH "M8, grade 8 bolts." Because the hardness is germane to torque specs. Thank you, though, for reading the post. -Jim

Ford 1910 Timing Gear Cover Torque Specs

Thanks. It's a cast iron cover. Believe they are M8, grade 8 bolts. If oil comes gushing out, I'll tighten more, I guess. -Jim

Ford 1910 Timing Gear Cover Torque Specs

Yes. The general torque specs I saw as well. Assume these were meant for metal-to-metal parts. The timing gear cover has a gasket between it and the block. Plus, I'm not really sure what to make of the chart. The heads of the bolts are blank (except the one that goes through the alternator...

Ford 1910 Timing Gear Cover Torque Specs

Greetings, Replaced the timing gear cover gasket and started looking for the torque specs for the bolts that hold it on. Been through all of my manuals (including the repair manual) and the closest I came was a reference to the reinstallation of the timing gear cover in the "engine" section...

Advice for Removing Diesel Injector Pump on 'Ford' 1910 Compact Tractor

For those following along at home... After disassembling what seemed like half the tractor, I finally got the pump gear off and got my first look at the inside-the-timing-cover side of the seal and pump shaft. As an experiment, I dried everything well, then reinstated the fuel lines and opened...

Advice for Removing Diesel Injector Pump on 'Ford' 1910 Compact Tractor

It does run well. Cold-blooded, like you said, but it does run well. Parts for these pumps seem to be scarce as hen's teeth.

Advice for Removing Diesel Injector Pump on 'Ford' 1910 Compact Tractor

Well, in short...no. The symptoms seem to point that way though, including that I have to change the oil every two uses because it keeps dumping diesel into the oil pan. Dilutes itself to where it starts blowing out like water from the breather tube. Plus, when I shut it down, I can hear what...

Advice for Removing Diesel Injector Pump on 'Ford' 1910 Compact Tractor

Was figuring on the spray paint trick and etching any end shafts. I'll turn the crank to line up the timing marks before I pull it too. Hopefully, these things are robust enough that I won't offend it too much in the process! Guess I need to find a timing cover gasket too... Thanks, Jim

Advice for Removing Diesel Injector Pump on 'Ford' 1910 Compact Tractor

I am getting ready to remove the diesel injector pump on my 3-cyl Ford (Shibaura) 1910 tractor. The pump (diesel kiki) needs rebuilt and after that's done, I want to reinstall it with a minimum of timing and alignment issues. Hoping for some general advice on how to accomplish this. Things to...
