Advice for Removing Diesel Injector Pump on 'Ford' 1910 Compact Tractor

To close out this thread, here's the Rest of the Story... Sent the pump to thepumpguysc, who had a devil of a time finding parts as well. His overseas supplier sold him the barrels and plungers needed, then cancelled and refunded the order without explanation. He searched for other suppliers...

Modified Mohawk B-5 Rotary Cutter - How to Return to Safe Use

Greetings! I picked up this Mohawk B-5 "Brave" rotary cutter at a farm near my home. I've already changed out the gearbox fluid and checked underneath to find the stump jumper and blades in surprisingly good condition. I don't think the upper link area is set up as it would have come from the...

Ford 1910 Timing Gear Cover Torque Specs

Well, After a through review, the bolt torque specs are not mentioned in the 1920 manual either. It describes the removal process in detail, then says the reinstall is the reverse, but jumps from "bolt the timing gear cover on" to referring to the crankshaft pulley and it's required torque...

Ford 1910 Timing Gear Cover Torque Specs

Thanks for this resource! I'll try to find it. Hopefully the 1920 is close to the 1910. Thank you! Jim

Ford 1910 Timing Gear Cover Torque Specs

I'm aware. That's why I identified them as BOTH "M8, grade 8 bolts." Because the hardness is germane to torque specs. Thank you, though, for reading the post. -Jim

Ford 1910 Timing Gear Cover Torque Specs

Thanks. It's a cast iron cover. Believe they are M8, grade 8 bolts. If oil comes gushing out, I'll tighten more, I guess. -Jim

Ford 1910 Timing Gear Cover Torque Specs

Yes. The general torque specs I saw as well. Assume these were meant for metal-to-metal parts. The timing gear cover has a gasket between it and the block. Plus, I'm not really sure what to make of the chart. The heads of the bolts are blank (except the one that goes through the alternator...

Ford 1910 Timing Gear Cover Torque Specs

Greetings, Replaced the timing gear cover gasket and started looking for the torque specs for the bolts that hold it on. Been through all of my manuals (including the repair manual) and the closest I came was a reference to the reinstallation of the timing gear cover in the "engine" section...

Advice for Removing Diesel Injector Pump on 'Ford' 1910 Compact Tractor

For those following along at home... After disassembling what seemed like half the tractor, I finally got the pump gear off and got my first look at the inside-the-timing-cover side of the seal and pump shaft. As an experiment, I dried everything well, then reinstated the fuel lines and opened...

Advice for Removing Diesel Injector Pump on 'Ford' 1910 Compact Tractor

It does run well. Cold-blooded, like you said, but it does run well. Parts for these pumps seem to be scarce as hen's teeth.

Advice for Removing Diesel Injector Pump on 'Ford' 1910 Compact Tractor

Well, in short...no. The symptoms seem to point that way though, including that I have to change the oil every two uses because it keeps dumping diesel into the oil pan. Dilutes itself to where it starts blowing out like water from the breather tube. Plus, when I shut it down, I can hear what...

Advice for Removing Diesel Injector Pump on 'Ford' 1910 Compact Tractor

Was figuring on the spray paint trick and etching any end shafts. I'll turn the crank to line up the timing marks before I pull it too. Hopefully, these things are robust enough that I won't offend it too much in the process! Guess I need to find a timing cover gasket too... Thanks, Jim

Advice for Removing Diesel Injector Pump on 'Ford' 1910 Compact Tractor

I am getting ready to remove the diesel injector pump on my 3-cyl Ford (Shibaura) 1910 tractor. The pump (diesel kiki) needs rebuilt and after that's done, I want to reinstall it with a minimum of timing and alignment issues. Hoping for some general advice on how to accomplish this. Things to...

Equivalent Fuel Injector for Ford 1910 3 Cyl Diesel Tractor?

That's great advice! Thanks. When I see these older Shibaura tractors being started in videos, they seem to catch right away, but mine takes two sessions of 20-second heating and still has to crank for about 30 seconds or more (twice). Was worried about the starter. Do you have a favorite...

Equivalent Fuel Injector for Ford 1910 3 Cyl Diesel Tractor?

Maybe... I've only had the tractor for a couple of years, but it's been hard starting since I got it. Like nearly running the battery down each time I try. I changed out the glow plugs a few weeks ago and that made little difference (though they were very sooty and looked to be in need of...

Equivalent Fuel Injector for Ford 1910 3 Cyl Diesel Tractor?

I have looked at both of those sources and found only ones specified for the 20-series and other newer tractors. I searched by both the correct SBA numbers and the "Ford 1910" keywords. There were zero relevant hits for either, but tons for the other 10-series and 20-series tractors. If by "pop...

Equivalent Fuel Injector for Ford 1910 3 Cyl Diesel Tractor?

Greetings, Been fixing up the old tractor fuel system. Right now, I'm trying to locate an equivalent fuel injector (or rebuild kit) for my 1984 Ford (Shibaura) 1910 tractor. The part numbers are: SBA131406230 (Single) SBA131406220 (double) I've been scouring the online shops and finding...

Ford 1910 Fuel in the Oil and Puking Out Breather Tube

Rebuilding the injectors might be a place to start then. I've noticed that there are no suppliers for the 10-series injectors. But, other than the crush washer at the bottom, are there parts that wear out that need replaced when rebuilding the injectors? Thanks for the reply.

Ford 1910 Fuel in the Oil and Puking Out Breather Tube

I haven't seen coolant signs in the oil yet. Just fuel. Radiator is full up still. How would you do a leak-down test on this tractor? I'll search for pump repair in my area. Thanks

Ford 1910 Fuel in the Oil and Puking Out Breather Tube

I'll have another look at it. Thank you. I can see the drain plug (slotted screw) and the fill cap (a horizontal hex bolt), but haven't looked behind it. I'll open the fill today and make sure it's topped off.

Ford 1910 Fuel in the Oil and Puking Out Breather Tube

I'll check the glow plugs. I've only owned it a couple of years and it's been stubborn to start since I got it. Found my (poorly laid out and confusing) shop manual and I don't see an oil overflow either. But it does show that the pump is lubricated via the engine oil. Cap on top for adding a...

Ford 1910 Fuel in the Oil and Puking Out Breather Tube

I have never checked it. Is it like a differential where the fill level is the bottom of the screw hole? And, does it take the standard 10-30? Or gear oil?

Ford 1910 Fuel in the Oil and Puking Out Breather Tube

It doesn't smoke, so that's good. Not sure about whether the pump has it's own crankcase and oil. I'll go check. Maybe there's a way to add a photo that would help on here. I'll give it a try. And I'll see if I can identify if it has a lift pump.

Ford 1910 Fuel in the Oil and Puking Out Breather Tube

My tractor sits a lot but is in great shape. It's a 1984 Shibaura (Ford) model 1910 3 cyl diesel. It starts but is reluctant to do so. Takes about 20-30 seconds of cranking (after 10 seconds of glow plug warm-up) when cold to get it to catch. The other day, while I was using it and the engine...

Please Help - Ford 1910 new 770B Loader Plumbing Issues

I have a great little 1910 that lacked a loader when I bought it. I found a loader from a machine (also a 1910) at Weaver's and am having trouble figuring out the plumbing. Front-End Loader  Ford 771 Fit a Ford 1910?

Have a line on a 771 and need a loader for my 1910 tractor. Anyone know if these will bolt up without modifications? I know the 771 was specified for the 1900 (and the 770A/B for the 1910), which is close to the 1910, but don't want to commit to a costly mistake. Thanks, Jim

Ford 1910 Fuel Tank-Mounted Fuel Level Tube - Type of Tubing

Good morning, A new 1910 owner with operator and service manuals in-hand. Unanswered question: What material is the fuel level tube (that serves as a fuel gauge in pre-July 1985 1910s) made of? Mine is crusty, opaque, and crispy. I thought it was a metal tube until I saw that the ends were...
