    General intro to 'ground engagement'

A disk is not a primary tillage tool. If you want to disc, you need a mole board plow to break the soil first. And yes, the tiller can get bound up with long grass in wheel hit rocks, but it’s a one simple tool for ground prep for gardening. It will also allow you to mix in organic materials...

    General intro to 'ground engagement'

I have two suggestions. Get a tiller for one of your tractors. If you’re only making 2 acres of garden first time will be a little rough, but it should improve as you repeatedly till it. Second suggestion is to look for a tow behind mower such as the 5 foot Swisher. Attaching it to your small...

    Do Not Top Off

You need to fill up the reservoir to the full line. Just don’t overfill it. The volume in the tank is where the extra fluid will go as it warms up.

Comparison Shuttle shift or hydrostat?? Is the extra costs worth it in a 50hp-ish cab tractor for pto power (brush hogging)

I had an option of two tractors to square bale with. The New Holland TL 80 A with 12 gears or a Massey 1528 hydro. 75 hp vs 28 hp. The Massey was by far the most useful. I could bale at the right speed to keep the chamber full and not overload the hay baler. I rarely broke a shear pin. The new...

Surprised that there are no trailer hitches with tongue weight indicators

I guess you did not look to hard for one.

    Life on the farm

I grew up in Caldwell. I often miss that little town. We had to sell our place since my dad gave it to all five kids. I tried my best to keep it, but they were greedy.

    counter weight with Jenkins Teleboom

First question. Is this for a one time use? In other words it looks like an expensive piece. If all you’re doing is putting up one building. Next, are you putting up the rafters by yourself or do you have help? If you have help tie a tagline to the rafter in order to keep it from swinging...

    Knee Replacement Recovery Tips

My wife had to have knee surgery. They gave her one of those pumps to pump ice water around her knee thank goodness it was a godsend for her. It was a mess for me until I realized I could freeze water bottles and swap them out a few at a time and keep the water in the pump cold. It worked well...

Do you think I will be able to lift this? Kubota M7060

Do any of your neighbors have a tractor loader? Often with heavy loads, we use two forklifts. Lift the pallet up high enough and let the truck drive out from underneath it and lower it to the ground. Then you can break it apart as you build the building.

Share Pics of People Hauling or Towing Something Wrong

Sorry to hear about all your troubles. You’ve chosen a rough time to get into the hotshot business. The rates are low and insurance insurance cost and repairs are high. Until you’ve established relationship with any broker, I wouldn’t take more than one or two loads from them. They promise but...

    Blown insulation over foam board?

I put up corrugated metal for a ceiling in my house. I simply put it up against the rafters and used self tapping screws drilled it up into the rafters. More than 20 years later, it still looks good. There is one exception. The corrugated metal had, it seems like a light oil finished to it. I...

    New Holland TC 21D

While driving the tractor at night, the idiot light for the battery came on. I thought it was a problem with the Ater/generator. I was using it for a hayride and as long as I kept the RPMs up the light would go out. We tested the battery and it was weak so I purchased a new battery and put it in...

Whose tractor has a speed chart/scale?

I had an app on my phone for a long time that showed my speed. But the ad started coming so frequently that it was useless. So I found this one on Google. You might try it.

    Blinker Lights with Brush Guards

I bought a New Holland TC21 from my neighbor. The warning lights set to the outside of the ROPS. They are both broken off. I have been trying to find replacement 2 sided amber lights that have a guard to protect the lights. I have found a few guards but they are simply pipe around the lights. I...

    Do you have wheel weights?

Wheel weights and fluid filled tires is not a substitute for the counterbalance on the three-point hitch when doing heavy loader work. Without the weight, extending past the rear axle the front axle, which is the weakest axle is carrying most of the weight. To get the weight to transfer to the...
