I left last Thursday for the VA Moto Guzzi rally at Willville on the Blue Ridge Pkwy. Packed and ready to go. Taking a break at an overlook on the BRP. The rally. It was a nice ride down through WV to get there and back, and riding around on little VA roads Friday and Saturday was a blast.

I don't think you disagree with what I said at all, you just (rightly so) feel a heavy fabricated deck is stronger than a thin stamped one. However I would certainly find a smooth, rounded, one piece, 7 gauge steel deck preferable to a 7 gauge deck made from pieces welded together.

Stamping a deck out of heavy gauge steel requires a very large, heavy duty press, which most small mower manufacturers don't invest in so they simply weld them up. A welded together deck certainly doesn't mean it's better.

Are you sure? I believe the Pioneer has no rear differential, ie it's locked all the time.
