I am working on repairing my power steering on my 1971 Ford 3000 as it was locking up while turning to the right along with leaking.
When I was removing the control valve some metal pieces started to fall out of the bottom, after removal...
First thanks' to everyone for the replies, now to the results.
Feeling stupid as lines to the spool valve looked like they were in but they were not seated.

Well I guess this adapter plate is different than the one I replaced so when I get a chance I will fit a loop and see what happens.
I will post the results when it's installed.

There is no valve in the plate and I have removed the fel many times before while mowing and dragging my driveway and the 3 point always worked fine.

I just installed a replacement hydraulic adapter plate for my fel and my 3 point stopped working.
My loader is off the tractor, I put the blocking plate back on to use the 3 point while waiting for the new plate.
I removed the new adapter plate and reinstalled the blocking plate and the 3 point...
Quick update, I could not wait for better weather as it's going to be nasty for several more days so I pulled the top lid again and removed the check valve.
I think it was a big part of my problem as it was hard to get it out and was gummed up and the plunger was slightly pitted cleaned...
Ok I just downloaded the manual for this and should have done it to start with but anyway the only thing I didn't do was check the check valve so as soon as the weather gets a little better I will be pulling the top lid again and see if that is the problem.
